Middle class disappearing, millenials have to do porn to pay for college

This is what the Paul Ryans of the world don't understand. This is not a country of lazy people and good people, so much as it is a country of rich people and desperate people.

Well said.

$61k a year to study woman's studies?? She will be doing porn for longer than the 4 years of college.

Maher is making a good case proving people often become poor and desperate due to their own bad judgement, like having two children before either securing a steady mate/partner or having marketable skills, or like taking a $61k/yr program for 4+ years to get a degree in woman's studies.

Well they do need a steady supply of fresh faces.

Oh wait, you are trying to say this is a bad thing.

Nice try, but the average wage in the 1950s afforded people a middle class home, a vacation home, and enough to raise 4 children on a single salary. Today, two salaries doesn't even pay for a middle class home with no children. This is despite the fact that today's workers produce six times as much wealth as their 1950s counterparts.

That's what pisses me off. Although they didn't have interwebs and cell phones. We consume more, but we pay more for it.

Proof positive that the millXYs are, in fact, being screwed!

You see, a little ingenuity, and you can always turn adversity into profit.

6   clambo   2014 Apr 23, 4:40pm

The point is valid, but the jobs situation sucked in the late 70's, PLUS inflation and high interest rates combined were 30%.

I knew some guys who graduated college and worked in the trades because they didn't have a place to work. One started a painting business, one in restaurants, one in NY FD, one construction so he's well off today, etc.

That Duke girl is nutty by the way, she's a "cutter". She is in various pictures where you can see the razorblade scars on her thighs.

You are talking about home in the most expensive area, where 70%+ of the population are renters. The middle class worker on one salary and 4 kids couldn't afford to buy in NYC in the 1950's either.

This is despite the fact that today's workers produce six times as much wealth as their 1950s counterparts.

You are forgetting inflation adjustment to your number, the fact that 20 working age people supported each retiree back then vs. 4 working people for each retiree now.

Can't she go on welfare, qualify for sec 8, food stamps, have babies with multiple men and qualify for single mom benefits and crib about the 1% and Wall Street???

...then they become teachers, and then one of the students finds Her/His Porn video on the internet, and everyone demands that the teacher gets fired. But curiously, no one ever questions how, or why the student got porn on the internet in the first place.

Like porn wouldn't exist if that teacher hadn't made a sex tape.

10   Rin   2014 Apr 24, 12:47am

Yeah, but porn doesn't really pay the big dollars. It's a one time event but with a video trail to follow someone for life.

Annabel Chong, of Singapore, also did porn when she was studying at USC, however, when word got back to her home country, her parents had to emigrate to the US because of the shame and ostracism they'd experience once the story was public.

It would be better if she'd worked at a Nevada cat house or as an escort, up in Canada or England where it's legal.

Of course, in addition to the fact that the story was public, she also tried to make a documentary about her life, probably as a way to get some additional cash on her fading porn chic popularity.

Ah the irony of a student "forced" to do porn to pay for her tuition of Womens Studies.

Has anyone considered the porn may just be her senior research project?

13   MisdemeanorRebel   2014 Apr 24, 1:55am

It worked for me.

Here's an article on the salaries of female porn actors ...

http://www.businessinsider.com/heres-what-female-porn-stars-get-paid-for-different-types-of-scenes-2012-11

Thus, for a lifetime video record of the act, it's basically $800-$1200, with some extreme acts to $4K.

In contrast, being a Sugar Baby (the only legal escorting in the US, outside of certain NV counties) can have annual salaries of $80K to $250K (or above, if the guy is an oil sheik). And then, according to the world at large, you're that person's girlfriend or companion, since you'll be seen at restaurants and vacation places.

15   Shaman   2014 Apr 24, 2:53am

So what you're saying, Rin, is that the women who are too stupid to realize that the law is not to be respected are getting conned into far more degrading acts for much less money than the ones who quietly break the law or date men for the money?

A rare occasion when the Captain says something sensible.

I suppose I could help out a woman trying to get a college degree. It's only the right thing to do.

Everytime a millenial does anal on video, a baby boomer gets ther wings.

Correct and they can legally see 'short time' clients, if they do the deed up in Canada. Thus, those who live in areas near Seattle, Detroit, Buffalo, etc, can meetup in Vancouver, Windsor, or Toronto, without any legal issues whereas here, it's only certain sections of NV.

Porn creates a mpeg4 trail. Someone will someday, find it, on the net. In contrast, anything which goes on in a Canadian hotel room between two consenting adults is no one's business. And in America, a rich guy can have a long term girlfriend in exchange for money but not the actual act of sex.

22   clambo   2014 Apr 24, 4:12am

Off the subject a little bit...

Years ago a GF worked at a Chinese restaurant and one of the waitresses worked in porn in San Francisco as a "fluffer"=gets the guy ready for his scene with another girl.

The center of porn has since shifted south from San Francisco.

Girls who are not famous generally don't make much per scene. They have to make it up on volume :)

Since there's no video of the fluffing, if the person isn't attractive/charming enough to be a sugar baby, it's still better than porn, as the fluffer won't be recorded.

I would quibble with this statement based on quantity/quality of cocks sucked.

Ok, so we're back to American gals attending Canadian or bordertown colleges again.
