The key to immigration is reducing birth rates in the countries that cannot manage their populations.
As far as the current situation, we could instantly resolve legal status by issuing more Work Visas until things sort themselves out.
Then there would be no excuse for not registering status.
I think that one of the unrecognized factors will be the consequences of re balancing which will help Mexico greatly.
The second factor I would contend is that the State of California needs to quit subsidizing immigrants. Admittedly I don't know the numbers on this but overall Calif doles out 1/3 of the welfare in the US with 1/8 of the population.
I like what they said in the article regarding:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.†That means that the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens, who are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, are not citizens, just as the U.S.-born children of foreign diplomats to this country are not citizens. Therefore, their mothers cannot collect child-only welfare benefits for them.
That being said economic growth depends on growth in he population of which the US is projected to grow considerably. So immigration is critical to the future of the US.
