Marcella and Ralph Bracamonte of Upland, California, say they hired Stretton, 64, as a live-in nanny on March 4 to help with their three children, ages 11, 4, and 1. According to the couple, the terms of Stretton's employment were that Stretton was to nanny for the family and help around the house in exchange for room and board.

I don't understand why they are feeding this deadbeat bitch.

Tenancy is one thing. Feeding her is another. Maybe it's a poorly drafted contract that effectively makes food part of the tenancy, but in most cases, you should be able to stop this.

Indiana Jones says

If this was happening in a rent controlled city like San Francisco, it would be nearly impossible to get her out of the house.

No joke. It would take 9 months to do it and you'd still have to shell out cash because she'd fraudulently claim she was disabled. Seniors are also entitled to bribes to move out, but I don't know what the age cut-off is.

There are people who have worked the system before and know how to do it. This bitch is one.

Hiring a nanny is a middle class luxury that only people in phillipines, mexico and india can afford....

Oops, - I should have read the story first. Those folks would adopt me into their family if I only asked for peeled Guavas.

Stop feeding her, when she goes out to get some food, change the locks.

Landlord-tenant law great disfavors self-help remedies like changing the locks. If you do that, she will get a court order against you, and you will lose credibility with the judge at the unlawful detainer hearing. It sucks when dealing with deadbeats like this, but that's how it works.

Apparently she has now left.

This article gives more detail on this crazy woman -- she has sued her sisters and her son and is supposedly on California's Vexatious Litigant List:

Her father specifically left her out of his will.

Ugh! Brings back old memories of a crazy ex GF.

Basically if the person's toothbrush is on the sink, they have more rights than you do inside your own house!

Count on the person to attempt to provoke you to so much as touch them; they could be living large in your house while you sit in jail.

Lesson learned: Do NOT let people stay inside your home. Also, even among "friends," WRITTEN contracts are an absolute must!

In countries like Japan they have mafias. I heard you call a number, they come with guns, remind the person of the fragility of life. The person immediately pays her dues and leave.
Problem solved.

“We’ve done it before and have never had a problem,” Marcella Bracamonte told ABC News. “I was a stay-at-home mom and thought it would be good to have someone around to help out.”

Too lazy to take full parental responsibility.

It's hard work.Boo Hoo.

It's best to get a nanny who is on a work visa. You can get them out very easily.

The article says that she works as a nanny and she is compensated with room and board. So the room and board are compensation only. Why would the compensation continue after she was fired?

I thought we were the rich ones.

Why does the government let lazy crackers sponge off hard-working successful Latinos?

If it's her legal residence you would not be able to legally throw her out.
That nanny knows what she is doing. Nanny from hell.

Sounds like a job for a Nanny Exorcist.

Haha, 2 Latinos having problems with their white nanny in Southern California. I have to admit this busted my preconceived stereotypes entering this thread.

When you hire a live-in nanny, she's suppose to look like this

and she's suppose to seduce your teenage son. Then you can sell the story rights to television. Doesn't anyone plan for the future anymore?

That can backfire. She can get knocked up by your teenage sun thus condemning him to a lifetime of child support payments.

Then, she stopped working, saying she felt overwhelmed. But she refused to leave the family home, staying in her room and coming out only to go to the kitchen to eat their food, they said.

The Bracamontes had tried to get Stretton to sign a document acknowledging her termination and agreeing to move out within a month, but she refused. Then, they said, she threatened to sue them with wrongful termination and elderly abuse.

They learned that she has filed dozens of lawsuits.

You do have to love the Irony of it.

She's a perfect storm of Liberal policies gone horribly wrong.
She should be the rich old bat, with lazy Hispanic servants that wont move out, to hear the Huffo crowd tell it. This old lady is a boomer and should be loaded. But instead she's poorer than Joe Biden eating his last cat-food sandwich, until the 3rd of the month. When his ss money comes, but for realizes though!
Now that we're such a nanny state and there's (insert anyone but a white male) abuse laws. Nobody can touch nobody until the cops shows up and shows everybody who's who and what's what with a couple headlocks, beanbags, pepper spray and possible popping a cap in someone's ass. You got the high class latin family trying to save a few bucks by hiring an old tired Gringa because they figured it would give them more class cred with their uppity Argentinian neighbors who have a previously abused Indonesian nanny she rescued through her organization and Employed in her mansion.

Every body want's to help every body out. Even if they didn't ask for it.
