As you prepare to celebrate Independence Day, I thought Id take this opportunity, while it still exists, to mock our progressive friends. You can spot them at your barbecue. Theyre the ones who brought the tofu hockey pucks they call veggie-burgers, the 6-pack of micro-brew beer they keep in a small cooler that never leaves their side so no one can grab one as if anyone would and smoking American Spirit cigarettes. They also havent showered in a while, so the flies are a dead giveaway. When you come across these tolerant people gleefully judging everyone to be their intellectual...

SO f-in stupid. I can't stand people who bring in politics/religion/whatever into holiday celebrations. There's a reason the internet forums are here for your trolling...Don't care to hear your bull no matter what side you are on.

Here's how liberals might mock conservatives:

A: Ask them how much money is leftover for the rent since they spent it all on fireworks

B: Note that they drink the crappiest beer and haven't read that there's actually some good beer made, primarily from microwbreweries and what's more, they aren't that weak 1% shit that passes for beer from all the donkey piss big beer makers.

C: That they can stop mis-using the "Don't Tread On Me" flag which has become the commercialized icon of the Tea Party, which being the fake lobby-funded thing it is makes the usage of such history inappropiate

D: That they should be paying more taxes since most of us live in states that more or less fund theirs even though they complain about things like this ( ironically)

My philosophy is the first drink should be a called drink, after that who can taste the difference? The whiskey should have a name starting with Glenn after that bar scotch, same with beer 1st should be a fancy something or other, then on to cold and on sale type beer.

9   edvard2   2014 Jul 3, 5:48am

Dunno. I take beer pretty seriously. Actually I make most of my own anyway, which winds up being a whole hell of a lot cheaper. So figure if you live in Cali a typical 6-pack of craft beer costs $9. If you make your own its 25 cents a bottle, or $1.50 a 6 pack.

The thing with craft beer is that a lot of it is somewhere between the 6-12% ABV range. Your typical mass-manufactured lager is more like 3.5%-4%. So basically you have to drink 50% more of the crappy beer to " get the job done"

Some of the big brewers have started fortifying their beer with alcohol, which is pretty disgusting.

About a year ago I went to a party and the only stuff they had was some 64 calorie crap and that had to be the worst beer I've ever had. It was like- what's the point?

Unless you have a source of free malt or are doing a heavy adjunct recipe (hard to call a craft beer at that point) I don't see any way to get the cost down to $0.25/bottle for 6-12% ABV beers. *Maybe* you hit 6% with a pilsner or something else with little hops and fairly complete fermentation...and you are using basic yeast (or propagating your own) and you aren't counting anything but the raw inputs...maybe.

Agreed. I ran the numbers too and I couldn't get anywhere near $0.25/12oz beer. And that was assuming no learning curve and a labor of love (no $ for time)

Eh, 4th is in coastal OC families headed by a business owner, ex military officer, and a 70's, 80's, & 90's era aerospace engineer.

I'm probably the most left leaning person of the bunch.

This type of callous, mocking, bullying behavior is common among self-described conservatives; I think its origin is in the Axis II disorders.

It sounds like one of my in-laws, a big fat mouthy fuck who is some kind of DOD contractor. Last thing I remember of him was his booming voice going on and on about how Iraq is going to be a cake-walk, and we need to just crush all of those towel-heads, kick their ass and take their gas, the war will pay for itself blah blah. I've never entered the presence of that part of my family tree since.

A few thanksgivings ago, I overheard my brother describing his latest mission in life, a prepper compound bristling with guns and ammo, so he could ride out the N-word president and all his America-hating black and mexican buddies who were imminently going to riot.

Damned tasty too!

You do understand that to a LOT of people, beer is (for the most part) beer. I mean brand almost doesn't matter, just as long as you stay away from that shitty Miller 64.

Eh, this is one of the things where I sorta agree with Edvard. Theres good beer and theres crap beer. And while a crap beer(American mass manufactured lagers as has been pointed out) is better than nothing, it pales in comparison to some of the delicious micros, as well as nearly anything produced in England, Ireland, Holland, and Germany. Not to mention a host of other beers from around the world.

I would disagree though that Republicans shun this sort of knowledge. I know myself and the military officer I alluded to earlier loves us some obscure beers, even introducing one to Yardhouse in its Long Beach infancy in the mid 90's that remains on its menu to this day.
