Do you have Cable?
I cut the cord, but back when I did have cable all of those years. The remote control that comes with the Cable box, was set up to control the television as well. The Comcast or the Direct TV controls handled every command I needed.
When we ditched cable, I had to go out and buy universal remotes for all of the Televisions in the house, because we had lost them over the years. Because we only used the Cable box remotes.
So - at no point you thought about checking the batteries on the remote? The $31.00 was substantially more than the cost of batteries and a new remote.
The bill was a little over $31,00.
Is it:
$3,100.00
or
$31.00
And quite frankly, if it's only $31 it should have been more for dealing with battery acid.
The first thing I would have checked is the remote battery. Never the less, glad you got by with only paying $31.
Our living room television "got sick." We could not get the internet to come up or change sources. I made an appointment for the Geek Squad to come out and look and repair it. A tech arrived yesterday afternoon. He was a real gentleman and honest. He identified the problem as a defective remote control unit. He was more specific. A battery in the remote control unit had gone bad and leaked battery acid into the remote. The bill was a little over $31,00. What a pleasure to see honesty and competence on a service call. We need a lot more people like this gentleman and a lot more companies like The Geek Squad.
