There were young teachers when we were in school as well. They taught kindergarten and lower elementary classes. Our high school teachers were all in the late 30's or more and any female high school teachers were well into their middle age spread.

I don't think there's a crime, this is an administration issue for hiring a 24 year old hot teacher to teach a bunch of 16 and 17 year old males who's hormones are at the raging peak of their lives.

I don't think there's been a sex crime committed here, but one would have to question the propriety of it all. Especially when considering his grade. That alone should be reason enough to have her terminated. Prison is a bit much though.

There shouldn't be a crime, i.e. there shouldn't be a law that prohibited her actions. It's not pedophilia, plain and simple. And this fake outrage actual distracts from combating real pedophilia.

As for the school administration, it's perfectly fine if they want to fire her over this relationship as there is a conflict of interest, but it should not be a criminal matter.

There damn well should be such a law. As long as the law is enforced that a 24-year old male teacher will go to jail, convicted of RAPE, no less, for banging a willing 16-year old female student, then the same should apply to female teachers raping male students.

It is a simple matter of equality under the law, and the fact that authority figures should not be involved with their underage subordinates.

The same type of rape is rampant in juvenile prison system, with female prison guards having their way with underage male prisoners. It is wrong, it should be stopped, and it should be prosecuted as what it is, namely RAPE.

Maybe you could make the case for such a law back in the days our Founding Fathers were banging 16-year-olds, but not today. It is utterly ridiculous to think that the typical 16-year-old girl isn't sexually active. Hell, for the past 30 years, such girls have done more kinds of sexual acts than most people did in their entire lives a century ago.

Furthermore, women are not financially dependent on marrying a man anymore. Nor are women required to be virgins before marrying. So all the reasons, good or not, for punishing men for having sex with 16-year-old girls do not apply in our time. A 16-year-old girl who has consensual sex isn't a victim in any way. She's not
- branded a slut for life
- prevented from marrying
- forced to live in poverty
- disowned by her family
- disfigured or disabled as punishment for fornication
- honor killed
- forced to live in a nunnery
- forced to marry the guy who deflowered her

Put simply, this is the 21st century, not the 17th century.

So what's the real reason for these laws? Scumbag parents trying to keep their daughters from doing what they themselves did at the same age. Such parents should be castrated (male or female) to serve as an example of what happens to people who try to use the violence of the state to control their daughters' sex lives. And that's what this really is about. It's about treating offspring as property that some man took without the permission of the parent.
