Former House Representative, Ron Paul, is one of the few members of Congress, past or present, that stays true to his beliefs and to the United States Constitution. It’s safe to say every vote he ever cast was in the best interest, not necessarily of his constituency* but certainly, of the people of the United States of America. Thus, when I read a post he submitted to his Facebook page accusing Congress of provoking war with Russia, I felt it was worth sharing.

Straw Man says

Reagan didn't finish the job.

Good thing, because the Russians will finish it.

You don't honestly believe that one or two drone wings flying over Russia is going to make them cry "Uncle", right?

Wouldn't that be a great Obama legacy?

He broke what Reagan fixed. Some Irony huh?

It'll be one of those tragic ironies that Democrats will deny forever and ever, and something Republicans won't say much about either considering how hawkish they are.

I just hope they get their priorities right and start fixing the fucking economy. Obama can talk the talk, but sure can't get shit done that's for sure. They practically turned Putin into a celebrity out here with their constant stupid.

The Russians still have high tech Analog vacuum tube technology.
They could very easily set off a EMP discharge to make drones fall from the skys and tanks dead in their tracks. Everything America has on the battle field operates on Software and micro controllers, that would be useless after such an assault. Their Trucks still run on points and coils.

They are the only country in the world capable maintaining high tech superiority with low tech hardware we threw out 60 years ago. High tech is nice, but it's fussy, if you know how to muck it up.
You can't really affect devices made out of cathodes, resistors and capacitors.

American electronics that aren't computerized are solid state transistors which are also affected by EMP.

Diesels run on points and coils? I thought they were compression ignition. Learn something new from the captain every day.

There are damn few military (or civilian) trucks anywhere in the world not running on diesel. But you know that, you' just being a schmuck.

it's a play on the capt'n vacuum tube comment, satirizing that the russians are technologically ignorant.

Why would I ignore him, he's pretty funny. Not as funny as the captain who I think actually believes what he says, which makes it much funnier.

Sorry, I didn't realize anyone would bother satatrizing the captain since it's already satire, just unintentional.

There is and will be no war with Russia. The Neocons don't have the balls for it, there's no possible way to have one without a draft.

America will harass Russia to the last Kogut.

There is an economic blockade, it's just as brutal as war with bombs and guns. Starving people into poverty leads to pretty much the same result.

19   Shaman   2014 Dec 9, 2:58am

This new Cold War with Russia is totally retarded. I think Putin is more popular with the American people than is Obama.
Neocon Jews run this country.
Fuck.

Idiot Norwegians.

I have to say that is some kind of irony, like a terrible joke on the American people. He got voted in because we wanted the wars to end, he goes ahead and starts 2 more.

Sometimes I think that Obama is nothing but a guy who gets told what to do and what to say, or just another status quo elite member.

Well, the Russians said "Fuck the EU" just like Nuland, and ran the pipeline to Turkey instead, who will then sell the gas on to Europe. Since the EU has basically been leading Turkey on with membership, this is a dual FU from both Putin and Erdogan to the EU.

Europe is jerking off when it says it's going to go to Coal, Oil, or LNG. The first Europe has been winding down for two decades, and there's too much public resistance. Oil would open up Europe again to oil shocks, which is why Europe has avoided much new oil plants since the 70s. LNG is 30% more expensive than piped gas and far more volatile to store and transport, and the infrastructure does not yet exist. The EU could go whole hog on renewables, spend a trillion euros on it, and in a decade they'd still need fossil fuels or nuclear to a large degree.

The Germans are jerking off when they think there is no alternative but Germany for Construction Equipment, Machine Tools, etc.

Oh, and a huge FU to Banderstani bandit siphoners, which hasn't even realized how in less than a decade they will have absolutely no leverage over Russian gas exports to Europe.

They just sold a shitton of weaponry to China, signed several gas deals with China worth tens of billions, they're doing a 50/50 Fighter Development program with India, sold both Turkey and India several tens of billions of dollars to build Nuclear Reactors, and just today there was a meeting in South Korea to work on energy, materials and IT programs together. Japan's loss.

Both India and Turkey view energy independence as a big deal, esp. the former who depends on Sunni States that may not always sell to Hindu India, esp if it wars with Pakistan.

We talk of sanctions, but a great deal of things Russia buys aren't sanctioned in the Europe or the US.

The Russians are also signing up Brazilian and Chinese firms to develop the massive new arctic offshore sites.

I'd say Russia isn't Isolated at all. To sound like a broken record, it ain't 1975 no more.

Than someone on the other side will find a way to start a war in Turkey, our weapons and military is all over middle east, what's another tiny country right...?

Turns out nothing of that has been agreed on.

PS. Besides, Turkey, Bulgaria - doesn't matter: even if they build the pipeline, in order to sell gas to EU countries Gazprom would have to abide by the same EU laws they refused to abide in case of South Stream. "News from the future" indeed.

I've handled this wishful thinking in another thread. A memorandum of understanding has been signed, the financing is underway and right at this moment, Gazprom is as I type laying pipe under the Black Sea. The deal also includes nuclear plants.

Considering how long it takes to plan these things, it's moving at a juggernaut pace. Furthermore, I suspect there was a lot of work done prior to Putin and Erdogan's meeting where most of the details were ironed out by their respective administrations.

30   MisdemeanorRebel   2014 Dec 9, 11:16pm

Syria

Is a whole other side to this. The Gulf wants to build a pipeline up from Saudi Arabia through Jordan/Iraq to Syria, then to Turkey. That's another reason why Assad is being destabilized as the US/EU wants a reliable crony in there. However, the terrorists sent to destabilize Assad have gotten too powerful, yet neither side can destroy the other.

Turkey figures it's even better to have two pipelines merging into theirs, the more the merrier, gives them more power and influence and energy security.

Turkey already gets a good deal of gas from Russia as it is.
