Certainly Obama did not deserve the Nobel Peace Prize and he has committed war crimes even in excess of Bush. The sole reason Obama got the prize was the world was so shocked and disgusted by Bush that awarding Obama the prize was like giving Bush an condemnation despite that the Nobel Prize Committee doesn't give out condemnation "prizes".

But don't blame liberals for the election of Obama. He voted to reauthorize the USA Patriot Act, thereby making him unelectable in the eyes of liberals. The reason Obama got elected, and why Hilary will be elected in 2016, is that the alternative, another Republican president, is unthinkable to any sane person. As vile and despicable as Obama has been, I wholeheartedly believe that McCain and Romney would be worse as would all the jokes that ran in 2012.

The only candidate in 2012 who had any appeal to liberals was Ron Paul and only because he's good on human and civil rights.

Of course, the real lesson to be learned is this... If you didn't want 8 years of Obama followed by 8 years of Hilary, then you shouldn't have stolen the 2000 election from Gore. 9/11, ISIS, rape scanners, the rise of terrorism, and all the human rights violations we've seen in our country simply would not have happened if Gore, who won the electoral vote fair and square, had been given all his rightful votes. If that had happened, Obama would not even be a footnote in history.

Conservatives have no one but themselves to blame for all the things they hate. If conservatives had never been slavers, we wouldn't have racial issues today. If conservatives hadn't embraced the Southern Strategy, the Republican Party wouldn't be known as the party of racism. If conservatives hadn't gerrymandered Congressional districts, the Republican Party wouldn't be unelectable because of Tea Party nuts and a base that is viewed as lunatics by everyone else. If conservatives didn't do everything to undermine the growth and prosperity of STEM workers through H1B Visas and outsourcing, we'd have the very cheap, clean energy that Republicans are praying to their fictitious god to prevent businesses from losing profits due to environmental regulations and more costly clean energy. If conservatives didn't embed their false religion into our secular state, they wouldn't have to worry about Muslims doing the exact same thing. If conservatives didn't wage a war on blacks, effectively making them second class citizens through the very bias war on drugs and unemployable in any gainful career, then conservatives wouldn't have to pay so much for anti-poverty programs like food stamps and assisted housing. If conservatives didn't gut the economic opportunities of the middle class, then conservatives wouldn't have to pay for large social safety nets like welfare, Social Security, and Medicaid.

Conservatives cause the very problems they bitch about.

Certainly RT News is controlled by the Russian state. You can call it propaganda if you like. I find the word is too freely used and can be applied to any speech by many people's standards. To me, something is propaganda only if it misrepresents the truth for political or financial reasons.

Although I'm sure RT News has many articles, particularly regarding Russia, that meet that criteria, this particular article is completely factually accurate. I see no misrepresentation of the truth, although I'm open to listening to any example in this article that someone believes is misleading in any way.

This article goes way softer on Obama than I would, but it does make the point that the Nobel Prize was clearly not merited. Personally, I think the people who gave Obama the prize for "not being Bush" have regretted doing so since he turned out to be Bush in everything but name and party. As disgusted by Obama that I imaging the Nobel committee is, I doubt they will award another Nobel Prize to the next president for "not being Obama". Bush's presidency was shocking because his blatant abuse of humans was unprecedented in recent times. Obama doesn't have that same shock value, but he did go much farther than Bush.

Quite frankly, I think the only reasonable chance that America will reverse course is if Hillary decides for some unforeseen reason to not run for president and Biden is elected. Hopefully, despite being Obama's VP, Biden might secretly hate most of what Obama is doing and just can't stop it but is biding his time to undo most of the damage. Of course, I could be wrong and Biden could end up sucking on human and civil rights as well. He has a pretty mixed record.

I'd really like to see an Elizabeth Warren / William Black ticket, but that's a pipe dream because this country is just too fucking stupid and outsiders simply don't get into Washington unless their pawns being controlled by those in power.

I can see how the prize to Obama was wrong, and there have been other poorly chosen prize recipients, but I don't see what's wrong with Gore getting one. From the Nobel Prize organization's official website,

In Gore's case, certainly, the award was grounded in his tireless campaign to put the climate crisis on the political agenda.

According to the Nobel Committee, Gore is probably the single individual who has done most to rouse the public and the governments that action had to be taken to meet the climate challenge. "He is," in the words of the Committee, "the great communicator".

Based on that criteria and given the global importance of addressing climate change, especially billions of people in lesser developed nations, it seems quite appropriate to award Gore and his colleagues the Peace Prize, which deals in all aspects of Peace, not just preventing wars.
