Putin's Plan to Destroy Democracy in the West

Russia has boosted right-wing populists across Europe. It loaned money to Marine Le Pen in France, well-documented transfusions of cash to keep her presidential campaign alive. Such largesse also wended its way to the former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi, who profited "personally and handsomely” from Russian energy deals, as an American ambassador to Rome once put it.

Vladimir Putin has a plan for destroying the West-and that plan looks a lot like Donald Trump.

There's a clear pattern: Putin runs stealth efforts on behalf of politicians who rail against the European Union and want to push away from NATO. He's been a patron of Golden Dawn in Greece, Ataka in Bulgaria, and Jobbik in Hungary. Joe Biden warned about this effort last year in a speech at the Brookings Institution: "President Putin sees such political forces as useful tools to be manipulated, to create cracks in the European body politic which he can then exploit.” Ruptures that will likely multiply after Brexit-a campaign Russia's many propaganda organs bombastically promoted.

The destruction of Europe is a grandiose objective; so is the weakening of the United States. Until recently, Putin has only focused glancing attention on American elections. Then along came the presumptive Republican nominee.

Donald Trump is like the Kremlin's favored candidates, only more so. He celebrated the United Kingdom's exit from the EU. He denounces NATO with feeling. He is also a great admirer of Vladimir Putin. Trump's devotion to the Russian president has been portrayed as buffoonish enthusiasm for a fellow macho strongman. But Trump's statements of praise amount to something closer to slavish devotion. In 2007, he praised Putin for "rebuilding Russia.” A year later he added, "He does his work well. Much better than our Bush.” When Putin ripped American exceptionalism in a New York Times op-ed in 2013, Trump called it "a masterpiece.” Despite ample evidence, Trump denies that Putin has assassinated his opponents: "In all fairness to Putin, you're saying he killed people. I haven't seen that.” In the event that such killings have transpired, they can be forgiven: "At least he's a leader.” And not just any old head of state: "I will tell you that, in terms of leadership, he's getting an A.”

...

And though it may be a mere coincidence, Trump's inner circle is populated with advisers and operatives who have long careers advancing the interests of the Kremlin.

We shouldn't overstate Putin's efforts, which will hardly determine the outcome of the election. Still, we should think of the Trump campaign as the moral equivalent of Henry Wallace's communist-infiltrated campaign for president in 1948, albeit less sincere and idealistic than that. A foreign power that wishes ill upon the United States has attached itself to a major presidential campaign.

Donald Trump's interest in Russia dates back to Soviet times. In fact, there's extraordinary footage of him shaking hands with Mikhail Gorbachev. It comes from 1988, the peak of perestroika and Gorbachev's efforts to charm the American public. On his legendary trip to Washington and New York, the Soviet in chief left the confines of his limousine and security cordon to glad-hand with the American people. Donald Trump suggested to reporters that the Soviet leader would be making his way to Trump Tower, a crucial station on his journey to capitalism. This was, in fact, a self-aggrandizing fabrication that Trump himself planted in the tabloids, but it was a convincing lie. A year earlier, Trump had traveled to Russia at the invitation of the Soviets. They wanted Trump to develop luxury hotels in Moscow and Leningrad to feed the regime's new appetite for Western business. "The idea of building two monuments in the U.S.S.R. has captured his imagination,” Newsweek reported.

Trump likely reveled in the newspaper stories that reported Gorbachev's forthcoming visit to his HQ as fact. But surely even he never expected his fake story to become reality. He must have been gobsmacked when he received word that Gorbachev wanted to pay a spontaneous visit to Trump Tower. The skyscraper's namesake rushed down from his penthouse office to pay obeisance. From the video, we can see the blotched head of Gorbachev emerge from his car. Trump and his retinue push through the crowd. "Great, great honor,” the mogul says as he pumps the hand of the Soviet supremo.

One of Trump's vulnerabilities is that he doesn't always vet his people, whether it's business partners, the dubious characters he retweets, or the foreign leaders who show up at his door. As it turns out, this Gorbachev wasn't really the Soviet leader but an impersonator called Ronald Knapp. Trump was lavishing praise on the winner of a look-alike contest.

Wow. What an idiot.

Correct. The Clinton/ISIS connection, with all the money she sucks in from Saudi Arabia, is very dangerous. Which is why i will never vote for her or anyone she endorses.

Clinton is part of a charity organization that has accepted money from foreign dictators to help the poor after natural disasters and combat disease and global environmental problems. That is much worse than using foreign oligarch tied to Putin as your primary source of personal finance. I mean, where are you going to go when no commercial banks will do business with you? All you have to do is bite the pillow for a while, and Putin provides you with the cash.

Um... It's Clinton that has been Proven to be taking money from foreign Dictators, also it turns out I was right.
All of those violent trashing bigoted anti Trump protests were sent from the DNC.

http://dailycaller.com/2016/07/24/leaked-emails-show-dnc-officials-planned-anti-trump-protests/

Their Chicken Shit is coming home to crap on them next week at the DNC.
Ding dong the wicked cunt is politically DEAD!

The release of Democratic National Committee emails by WikiLeaks Friday reveals that DNC officials planned anti-Donald Trump protests.

In multiple emails, DNC officials signed off and acknowledged the existence of two anti-Donald Trump protests in South Bend, IN and Billings, MT. The release of nearly 20,000 emails is the first in a WikiLeaks “Hillary Leaks” series. (RELATED: Leaked Emails Show DNC Officials Constructing Anti-Bernie Narrative)

On April 29, a DNC press staffer, Rachel Palermo, alerted Eric Walker, deputy communications director, about a Facebook page for an anti-Trump protest on May 2 in South Bend. “Whoo! Thanks to our interns for finding this out.” Walker replies, “I like it, as long as the students feel safe getting involved. I imagine this demo will be nicer than the one in San Fran today.”

That day in San Francisco protesters blocked off roads to an event Donald Trump was hosting. The Republican nominee ended up having jump down from the highway and sneak around back to enter.

In another other email chain also on April 29, titled “Week-Ahead Notes & Assignments,” former DNC media booker Pablo Manriquez comments “this should be fun” in reference to the May protest.

University of Notre Dame, located in South Bend, is Manriquez’s alma mater. A DNC official wrote, “Pablo please reach out to any folks you think may be able to help.”

Another protest that’s directly mentioned in emails included one that occurred on May 26 in Billings, MT. The email is from May 20 and features notes on the “week ahead.” (RELATED: ‘Sexist Pig’ And Other Eye-Opening Revelations In The DNC Email Leak)

Both the Indiana and Montana protests were non-violent. The South Bend protest had “some expletive laced chants,” and protesters carrying Mexican flags. The Montana one had “only a few” protesters.

Intern involvement with protests is mentioned twice in the leaked emails. DNC communications director Luis Miranda bemoaned photos of an empty anti-Trump protest in Washington, D.C. in one email chain.

Miranda said: “Going forward, when our allies screw up and don’t deliver bodies in time, we either send all our interns out there or we stay away from it.. we don’t want to own a bad picture.”

Miranda was notified of the protests in an email by another DNC email chain titled “Tv coverage of protest great.” The original email notified the DNC communications director of the Indiana protest and a DNC staffer wrote, “thanks to our interns for finding this out.”

DNC officials Brad Marshall, a chief financial officer, and Alan Reed, a compliance officer, also signed off on the use of Black Lives Matter organizer Deray Mckesson as a surrogate for Hillary Clinton.

Mckesson rose to prominence after being active in protests in Ferguson, MO and Baltimore, MD. He has yet to endorse a candidate and said protests are likely to happen at the upcoming Democratic Party convention.

5   HEY YOU   2016 Jul 24, 9:13am

What was G.W. Bush's plan before 9/11?
Do nothing,before & during?

Not placing TBTFs in receivership,TSA,massive intrusions of privacy,
not demanding open carry in all public places paid for with taxes, etc, etc.
RNC prohibited open carry at the convention? Anyone there hated the 2nd

You love the Kochs, now that they have seen the light, and jumped ship over to the party of eternal altruism. CLINTON IS PERFECT. ANY AND ALL ACCUSATIONS OF HER BEING LESS THAN PERFECT ARE JUST REPUBLICAN BULLSHIT!

Donald Drumpf is very racist!

Yup! We need to nip this kind of shit in the bud right now. Get Donald elected and get the very bottom of all those responsible for organizing "Riots" and giving them support while using their office and to coordinate self serving interests other than that of Demcoracy or the Republic. That is the stuff Dictators are made up of. If anyone deserves to be round up and shot in the head for public spectacle it's those evil bastards.

The OP article was written by Franklin Foer and published on Slate. I don't know why the OP chose to plagiarize instead of quoting and attributing.

Poe's Law. I like Boris Johnson and enjoyed The Churchill Factor, so I'll defend him even though I understand you were being sarcastic. The others you listed are in fact terrible.

We shouldn't understate the Saudis' role in doing the same thing. The Bushes waged two wars against Iraq, after baiting Iraq into doing what the Bushes denounced; the second war had Hillary's Senate vote; Iraq had previously a secular government including a Christian Prime Minister, but now it's all Islamic all the time. Against Russian advice, the Clintons bombed Serbia on behalf of the Nazi Muslim Bosniaks, despite warnings from Russia. Hillary's War in Libya, and the current wars in Syria and Yemen, all show a pattern of disastrous self-defeating policies by America in service of the Muslim Nazi agenda, despite advice and warnings from Russia. In every case, from a purely "America First" perspective, we would have been better off listening to the advice from Russia rather than the Nazi Muslims and the MIC.

Hydrocabron, if you like movies or novels, I suggest The Sum of All Fears by Tom Clancy. He was a Republican, but the 2002 movie features Morgan Freeman and Ben Affleck. Leaders with their own interests have tried to influence foreign governments since the beginning of history. Churchill influenced America, though he was half American so he wasn't entirely foreign. Among the various foreign influences on America, only one is actually trying to kill or subjugate all of us, and it's also the only one that financed and facilitated an attack on New York and then paid Pakistan to hide the organizer behind it: Saudi Arabia. They had nearly run the table, with the likely nominees being Bush and Clinton, like Kang and Kodos: two wings of the same falcon, serving the Nazi Muslims.

Then, the entire Republican stage got Trumped. I can't stand most of the other Republicans, and I thank Mr. Trump for seeing them off. The really worthwhile Republican candidates, e.g. Gary Johnson and Bill Weld, are joining the Libertarians. Meanwhile, the Trump family include Democrats and Republicans, and he's supported both in his life. When Democrats call him "racist," I have to laugh: he's a principal reason NYC had a black mayor, Democrat David Dinkins. It wasn't personal, just business: popular mayor Ed Koch was blocking a deal that the Trump Organization wanted, so Donald Trump encouraged Manhattan Borough President David Dinkins to run for mayor. The irony of the Republicans trying to "stop Trump" is that all their other candidates were worse.

It happened on his watch,no matter how long he was in office. The blood is on Republican hands.

Another example of exceptional trolling that gets a response that can then be trolled.
