I'd quote your comment, but it seems my computer has lost that feature. I think we should either do it between Dec. 1 and 15 or after January 1st.
Perfect! I see a pizza port up in San Clemente. Just an idea.
Oh, and are we leaning toward a lunch event or a dinner event? Of course, this is a family event, so wives/husbands and other family members would be welcome. I brought my kids to the SF meetup. Though somehow I lost $40 as they kept taking money out of my wallet to get food at the deli. I guess that's what I get for getting so engrossed in the conversation that I just told them to "take what you need." Famous last words from any parent!
Would San Clemente be too far south for you?
I don't know, and it depends on when. But I've got to be honest with you, I think most of the Socal people on Patrick.net, such as dodgerfanJohn and Forwayne and maybe others (people I have periodically had on ignore, for one reason or another) probably won't be as interested if I'm going to be there. I think you should plan this as something I'm not going to be attending -since most of the SoCal people on Patrick.net are proudly alt right and kind of hate me. IT would still leave me the chance to maybe make a surprise appearance.
That is, I would consider them and their preferences first if I were you. But I appreciate you asking.
By the way, just in case DFJ reads this, I'd like to let him know that I am from Chicago, and used to live two blocks from Wrigley field. I am one extremely happy camper about the Cubs beating the Dodgers !
Marcus, I'd quote, but I cannot (something's going on with my laptop). That said, I hope you can make it. No one should take our debates so seriously that they wouldn't come to an event if you are there. That's silly. I suspect, that as we all get to know each other, we'll find that we have more in common than we ever thought. You are a valued, long-time member of this site. It wouldn't be the same without you.
That's silly
Not really. In the case of DFJ, the feeling is mutual. Some of these people really hate, not just liberals in the abstract, but they bring some semi serious emotional challenges of their own to the table. I briefly saw a comment of Ironman's that leaked through above (not seeable now though, by me). IT's indicative of what I'm talking about.
Different people are different. IF it were TPB ? AS much as he and I go at it, I kind of like him on some level. His BS is almost a parody of itself, and his issue is with liberals is in the abstract. I feel like I would enjoy meeting him, and hanging out with him, joking around. DJF is a different story, for reasons I wouldn't even try to explain. I'm about as interested in meeting him as I am in meeting Ted Nugent.
Where in SOCAL?
We're taking suggestions. At this point we're trying to figure out a central location. So far, most of us are south OC and SD. But if we get some from LA, we'd certainly want to make it convenient for them, too. Do you have any suggestions?

1.) you are truly an imbecile.
2.) no I would not attend a meetup.
Is this one of those trick meetings to get everybody in one spot so Trumpligula can have them served for slander lawsuits?

Well I'm in LA so whatever works for you folks.
Last time was fun, another meeting would be great but the odds of me coming to SoCal are rather small.
Marcus, I'd recommend that you go no matter what. Most people are much more reasonable to talk to in person than in print :). Dodgerfanjohn, you should go too! Amazing things can happen in person.

i like my anonymity :)
How about everybody you have on ignore has to sit at another table with chairs facing opposite directions?
That'd work...

Actually, the funnest part is figuring out who is who. Seriously... You will find yourself talking to this awesome, interesting person... only to find out that's the same asshole who has driven you crazy for a few years. Trust me. It's fun. One guy at the SF meet-up was a guy I had been arguing with for years. He's so cool. We now talk on the phone every few weeks. Talking over the internet is NOT the same as talking in person. For most of us... posts don't even begin to define who we are as individuals.
If that's the case, over 90% of the room will be facing away from Marcus.
==========
Now be nice. You know that's not true. Maybe the east coast patnet meetings will be co-hosted by you and Dan.... No doubt, those will be fun, too. Just leave the goats at home. ;)
Hey Ironman, come on down. Take a Mexican cruise at the same time.
since most of the SoCal people on Patrick.net are proudly alt right and kind of hate me.
Nah, I really doubt anyone on here sincerely hates you.
It's very easy to over-react online and give the wrong impression. Meeting in person does wonders to make the other person seem human.

That's true Marcus. Everyone's human behind their screen names.
Patrick needs to have the stats posted again that shows how many people a member has on "ignore". Based on last count, Marcus had like over 50 people on ignore, he was only topped by Bellingham Bill who had like 80.
I must have the record. Zero ignores zero dislikes.
What do you say about Saturday, December 17th from 5:30 - 8:00? Pizza and beer. What's more conducive to great conversation?
That's the time people attend Christmas parties. How about early December?
How about the 10th?
That will give people a week to recover from Thanksgiving, but should be before the company holiday parties start.
@turtledove
I'm impressed you organized this thing so quickly and rattled off that list of people. I'm there.
I'm interested, but not sure I can do it yet.
BTW, are comments instantly appearing for most of you, or do you have to reload the page to see them?

instantly appearing.
@just any guy
Just note, we're still finalizing details. Once we get the details ironed out, I'll start a new thread with a formal invite to minimize confusion. Does the 10th work for you? (I've had a complaint about the 17th).
@Patrick, you are welcome to stay with us if you want. I live in San Clemente. If you don't drive, easiest airport would be John Wayne. If you decide to come, I'll pick you up and, like I said, you can stay at our house.... Unless you're one of those who prefers hotels. I won't take it personally. Just thought I'd offer.
Hey @errc, my tits are indeed sweet, but I dunno, don't think you're my type.
Uhhh... Not that kind of slumber party... and I've actually met Patrick before, so it's not quite the same... but I appreciate you thinking outside the box.
I'm tempted. I'll probably come. San Clemente is less than an hour away, and the last one I missed by three days (was in San Fran earlier that week whilst on vacation with the fam). Might get the family to come by promising them a shopping trip at the outlets there 😎
My family will be there too. So your kids will have company. Mine are 12.
And my daughter loves the little ones... She's the total babysitting type.
Thank you for your gracious invite. Will do my best to make this one.
Try to make it although it’s a busy month for me, I’m in northern LA but a lot of my friends are in Costa Mesa if I make it I'll make a day out of it.
DieBankOfAmericaPhukkingDie says
I won't come if I can't bring my Gatling gun.
Nixon has been seen in San Clemente.
Pffft, I bet you're just a big cuddly teddybear in real life ;)
But, yeah the ghost of Nixon might be an added attraction for some?

Several people have expressed interest in a Southern California meet-up. If this is anything like the one last summer in SF, it will be a lot of fun. And maybe we can convince some of our Bay Area friends and out-of-staters to join us. Any suggestions on a place?
