Poor Harambe ... now he really would have given Trump a race.

A CNN reporter received what appeared to be an unexpected answer on Election Day when he asked a female voter if she was excited for potentially having the first female president in Hillary Clinton. "Aren't you excited for the first female president?" the reporter asked.

Sweet. Forecast bot on 538 is going to be cool. Essentially, as States call the elections for one candidate or the other, it adjusts its predictions more. Initially it might be a little swingy as the first states are called, but as the night goes on it should be pretty good.

22   Rew   2016 Nov 8, 4:16pm

Very cool. I love that map.

23   turtledove   2016 Nov 8, 4:22pm

Is this our race HQ for tonight? Or do we need a separate thread?

24   turtledove   2016 Nov 8, 4:24pm

Okay, some places are extending polling... Humm.... Someone should sue. Just kidding. This is so exciting.

Florida is swinging back and forth like a pendulum.

Is this going to be updated as states are called? I am not getting any updates since the election started.

27   turtledove   2016 Nov 8, 4:35pm

VA -- Trump with 53% with 3% in. That's kind of unexpected.

Trump campaign already is! :)

It is exciting. Cannot wait to get home and start drinking. I got myself something sufficiently American last night: Indiana Rye Whiskey ... freaking state just went MAGA TDove! ;)

Cheers All ... and even to you, you true deplorables I have on ignore. :)

29   turtledove   2016 Nov 8, 4:36pm

KY & IN already called for Trump. Not really a surprise.

Best part of having your own business. Though it was an insane morning... I HAD to be out of the office by 3:30 cuz I'm not missing a moment.

OOooo ... there is the 538 state by state call and graph ... hot!

You can scrub this back and forth and watch the odds change. Trump ticked up 1%.

He's getting at least one vote from me for California senate. I was considering Elmer Fudd but I decided he's too much like Lorettta Snatchez so I'm with Deez.

It's gonna go back and forth a shitload and whatever happens it'll be by 1-2 pts methinks.

I'm stopping the coffee, and gonna have my semi-annual drink. 7&7

41   MisdemeanorRebel   2016 Nov 8, 5:02pm

WTF with Virginia?

If it was 1-5% reporting, I'd say just rural. But now around 20% with some urban zones. She's gotta shoot up at some point.

Edit: Over 30%? And still double digit Trump?!

42   anonymous   2016 Nov 8, 5:09pm

Question on early voting; Are the early votes usually the first to be counted? or not necessarily?

43   anonymous   2016 Nov 8, 5:11pm

Clinton crushing in Ohio?

44   zzyzzx   2016 Nov 8, 5:14pm

I just saw them call a state with 1% of the vote in, and at least one more with less than 10% of the vote in.

Otherwise no surprises so far.

45   MisdemeanorRebel   2016 Nov 8, 5:15pm

errc says

Clinton crushing in Ohio?

No, I think Columbus counted first (heavily Black).

Same in Texas, San Antonio results, less than 1% reporting. Very democrat town

Trump is now only down 0.2% in Florida with 52% reporting and Broward, Miami-Dade reporting total initial results. So Hillary's key area is all in now - but the Panhandle is still counting, so is Tampa and other Central FL counties.

46   Rew   2016 Nov 8, 5:17pm

D.C. burbs area not reported in yet for Virginia. I think Clinton country hasn't weighed in yet in that state. Could be closer than expected though.

47   zzyzzx   2016 Nov 8, 5:17pm

Marco Rubio is projected winner for Florida Senate seat. No surprise there either. I figured the name recognition alone would do it.
