Fixed the map for you. See how much easier it is to follow when you don't use politically correct colors?
Politically correct colors:
White
Black
Yellow
Brown
Red
I think this is a psychological test where you have to say the color of the word rather than what color the word says. How fast can you do it?
I didn't open the link because I am on an old tablet right NOW (can't get to computer) that has trouble with some files like that, but let me ask a potentially dumb question - Patrick's original map pasted shows massive areas of no dots, as in no color (whites are represented as blue in original map), as in emptiness, many times in places where I just assumed there had to be SOME people (unlike high elevations of much of the Rocky Mountains, for example).
Are there literally no living humans in that large a geographical % of the nation, real? (it looks like 65% of the land is unoccupied by a living person of any race?)
There's an explanation at https://demographics.virginia.edu/DotMap/index.html?ref=patrick.net
OH crap ! I'm a racist !
Thats the first step!
I was just kidding. I already knew I was a racist. Just not nearly as much so as 80% of Trump voters, probably yourself included.
Not over that yet huh ?
Because it isn't. If linguistics is a race, then Bob Marley, Winston Churchill, Jackie Chan, Billy Ocean, David Bowie and Mancherjee Bhownagree are of the Anglic race.
Rather than Mixed, White, Asian, Black, White, and Indian.
I understand. And most mexicans are essentially white, with a little brown (indigenous) mixed in to varying degrees.
You would rarely if ever hear someone saying this whole sentence or something like it: Mexicans are a different race then white Americans.
And yet you will hear prejudice against Mexicans referred to as racism. This doesn't trouble me at all. Maybe becasue I simply don't care to obsess about trivial semantics.
What would be worse is if some overly obsessive assholes decided they needed to define exactly what percentage of indigenous ancestry one would need to be technically or officially a different race, thus breaking Mexicans down into white and non white or some such foolishness.
So Mexicans are sometimes referred to almost as if, (but not explicitly) they are a different race but we know they're more or less white. So ?
I couldn't care less.
I see what you are saying. I would race is pretty damn hard to qualify. Right now we're using basically the same 1930s terms.
Some Mexicans are Mostly Native Americans, Others are Mixed, and the ones who control most of the power are pure European, like 6'3" Vicente Fuchs, I mean Fox.
Don't suggest a Mexican has black ancestry, despite about 1 or 2 Million sent their in the Colonial area. Almost no Mexican will admit to having black ancestry, it's fighting words.
There's no reason why we take some colonial countries and pretend every body there is either White/Black/Native or some mixture of them all (ie Brazil, USA, Canada). But for the Hispanic countries, we just call everybody Hispanic.
Almost no Mexican will admit to having black ancestry,
Unless it's a teenage boy in America, in which case they are just as likely (these days) to be proud of it. Things have been changing.
So that Map is saying Obama was a complete utter failure, after 8 years of his preaching diversity.
There's not one single point of light on that map that you can point to say there's a diverse city.
They are all about color, total horseshit mind you but just the same.
The map is from 2010. And even if it was current, if it tells you anything about Obama's success or not, let alone him being a a "complete and utter failure," you are even more stupid today than usual. But then you don't usually have any honest thoughts floating around in that mind of yours, so no big surprise at this point. I guess if I factor in the Trump effect, you're right on target.
say there's a diverse city
I found it interesting. You see people being attracted to neighborhoods with the same ethnic groups. But actually you do see some extremely diverse areas in many of the big cities. The most diverse neighborhoods you can find are going to be relatively high income urban. No I'm not saying high income means diverse. I'm saying extremely diverse seems to require a fairly decent income and urban setting.
What would be worse is if some overly obsessive assholes decided they needed to define exactly what percentage of indigenous ancestry one would need to be technically or officially a different race, thus breaking Mexicans down into white and non white or some such foolishness.
for the Hispanic countries, we just call everybody Hispanic.
It's the battle of the languages.
The idea is to separate the ppl, who'll eventually be speaking English within a generation or two, like Malta or Moldavia, vs those, who'll be a part of a long term Spanish speaking voting bloc.
This is not a race issue, when it comes down to the Spanish language.
