It turns out if you're not going to be judged at work as a homaphobe for not going to see Brokeback mountain.
People wont tune in to see it on their own. Unless of course, they are into that sort of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
But shows like this not being the most watched show in History is win for Civilization if you wanna know the truth.
Normal people shouldn't be exposed to that shit, no more than everyone should sit in front of a computer and whack off to what ever fetish they are into.

It would be better if ABC said look we're appealing to a larger audience we didn't produce this show to be a ratting hit with every demographic. Which is the truth.
They are strapping a heart attack machine to the politicizing of gay issues and resuscitate it back to life.

Now the media is spinning what a huge flop it was. See how you allow your team to mind fuck you guys? Does it really matter if I never watch that show? Was it produced for your viewing pleasure or ours?

Although the show does include a few bedroom scenes, it's mostly not about that. When ABC broadcast Roots, a lot of people watched; many or most were white and had nothing to do with the subject matter. These days, more people stream video than watch broadcast. I don't mean to cast aspersions against anyone, but people put a lot more work into "When We Rise" and made much better TV than some of the other stuff I've seen. How many seasons and variations of "Big Brother" or "Marry a Millionaire" do you need before seeing what else is on?

I watched parts. From a story perspective it's a piece of historical fiction that probably needs to be told, and hasn't been reasonably depicted in any sort of major media.

From an entertainment perspective it was overly dramatic and the purposeful tugs on the heartstrings were too frequent and manipulative. Like a bad Disney movie.

It does combine dramatic re-enactment with original film of actual events, and memories can differ, so some of the re-enactments may be historical fiction. Also, some of the original film of actual events got edited to replace some of the real characters with the actors portraying them; I hope a future edition might restore the original film instead. Meanwhile, it's the best I've seen, including especially the portrayals of disagreements and tensions among smart people who had a combination of conflicting interests and shared goals. It shows that success resulted partly from many different people having the courage to disagree openly and even to say mean things about each other, and yet work together anyway.

Through the liberal process known as Ancestral Guilt, every white person today is intimately involved with this show...
