U.S. Airport Pat-Downs Are About to Get More Invasive

While few have noticed, U.S. airport security workers long had the option of using five different types of physical pat-downs at the screening line. Now those options have been eliminated and replaced with a single universal approach. This time, you will notice.

The new physical touching-for those selected to have a pat-down-will be be what the federal agency officially describes as a more "comprehensive” physical screening, according to a Transportation Security Administration spokesman.

Denver International Airport, for example, notified employees and flight crews on Thursday that the "more rigorous” searches "will be more thorough and may involve an officer making more intimate contact than before.”

"I would say people who in the past would have gotten a pat-down that wasn't involved will notice that the [new] pat-down is more involved,” TSA spokesman Bruce Anderson said Friday. The shift from the previous, risk-based assessment on which pat-down procedure an officer should apply was phased in over the past two weeks after tests at smaller airports, he said.

Fucking Islam.

2   Shaman   2017 Mar 4, 7:58am

Trump needs to abolish Islam and the TSA, in that order. Two terrorist organizations that need to go down.

3   Blurtman   2017 Mar 4, 9:26am

Mr. Gere, are you going to make me search for the gerbil?

4   Ceffer   2017 Mar 4, 9:39am

On the bright side, they have been diagnosing thousand of cases of prostate cancer and cervical anomalies for free. The TSA unions are now demanding Obamacare subsidies.

They also want hazard pay and disability for orgasm induced carpal tunnel syndrome.

They also want permission to bitch slap travelers who mime "You makee mee happy ending big time, or no tipee?"

All commercial air travel should immediately cease until the government can find a way to guarantee safety without committing sexual assault. I guarantee you that the "security experts" will find a non-invasive alternative within an hour rather than causing massive economic disruption. This is all security theater and does nothing to make you safer.

All the assholes bitching about transgenders using the wrong bathroom should be marching on Washington, D.C. with AK-47s protesting this and threatening violence if it does not immediately stop.

The Islamists have not stopped targeting us. We will not sacrifice our safety.

You've done exactly that. It's not the Islamists who are sexually assaulting your daughter. It's the TSA. You are not safe from the TSA. You have completely giving up your safety.

9   Dan8267   2017 Mar 4, 10:31am

The smart jihadist would just get a job with the TSA and terrorize people with impunity.

Only fools believe that security theater will make them safer.

11 Reasons the TSA is NOT Making Us Safer

I could go on and on. The fact is that the TSA misses 95% of mock concealed weapons in every test actually done. But I'm sure that $25k/yr horny guy whose last job was at McDonald's is going to make you so much safer by rubbing your daughter's pussy with his hand.

I guess conservatives don't mind strange men copping feels of their daughters, at least not until the TSA starts hiring transgenders. Oh, and that's coming. You can count on that.

So now you are a security expert too.

You always were an expert on:
Crime
Safety
Economics
And now "Airline Safety"

If we had clean efficient high-speed rail service, I totally would. It's much better to leave and arrive from the center of town than from an airport.

No law saying you have to fly

No law says you have to use currency either, but try not doing so.

Some things are practical necessities in modern life. The public has a right to demand that such necessities do not harm the public unnecessarily. So yes, grievances against practices by the government, monopolies, and oligopolies are valid.

Some monopolies are necessary. Even a large city can support one, maybe two airports, at most. So yes, the public should be able to impose political pressure on having that infrastructure run safely, efficiently, and without violating human rights, or creating an undue economic burden on the public or individuals.

I understand the Orlando gay nightclub shooter had a job with a branch of Homeland Security. Talk about paying the fox to guard the chickens! Only in Obama's America...

17   Dan8267   2017 Mar 4, 2:56pm

Also in Bush's and Trump's America.

Actually that is not true. He worked for a security company that won some contracts from Dept of State and Dept of Homeland Security.

Really? Why? Generally speaking, parking is much better at the airport than the center of town.

21   Patrick   2017 Mar 4, 4:48pm

The center of town is where things are going on, as a rule. Except for cities with too much "vibrant diversity" downtown.

Airports are in hideously ugly strip-mall land where no living pedestrians are anywhere to be seen. It's all sadness and slow death.

22   Tenpoundbass   2017 Mar 4, 7:50pm

I like how the news expect the people that have never flown before to be outraged every time they report a Muslim that was inconvenienced by the Airport boarding protocol. Because Bush was such a globalist Shit suck, he didn't want to hurt the Muslims feelings, so he set up the TSA to pretty much pester and harass everyone.
You whining, pissing and moaning about your terrible treatment of the assholes at the airport screening process. Is music to my ears, how do think we feel?

Those people want to be molested. They just don't want to admit it, so they make it a requirement 'for safety' .

The center of town is where things are going on

At airports you are penned in with people in transit. Flying out of Seattle, I am convinced people are flying high. On a recent flight, a tattooed row mate seemed to be on something, rocking his body, making repetitive motions with the tray, and repeating phrases to himself. He was very polite, was able to speak, and ordered a few bourbons, anxiously looking around for the attendant when he needed another. Maybe he had PTSD.

Well, if common sense and listening to the plethora of evidence done by experts makes one an expert, then yes. It's amazing how much knowledge one can gain by reading.

P.S. It's utter hypocrisy for someone advocating these policies with zero evidence to back up his claims to bitch and moan about the expertise of someone opposing those policies with actual evidence.
