Trump is harboring a grudge against the NFL because his USFL endeavor back in the day was a colossal flop. In his classic delusion of grandeur, he believed that USFL can not only compete head to head with the NFL, but he was convinced that he can challenge them in the same months that NFL plays their games. Predictably, it did not work out to put in mildly. Like a true narcissist, he felt "slighted" and filed it away in his memory back. His resentment festered and when he was not allowed to buy a stake in Buffalo Bills (went to Pegula instead), his anger only amplified and he felt paranoid that the NFL owner elites are against him and out to get him. The flag and anthem issue simply allowed him to channel his anger, hate and rage under the guise that he is "outraged" at the protests.

Whereas the California Legislature is only doing the Very Important Business of the State, without getting Sidetracked.

Although I do think that ALL corporations and other institutions that receive more than $1000/year from Taxpayers in Funding of any kind should be required to mention "Our Thanks to the Generous Patronage of the Great American Taxpayers of the United States", and recite the Pledge of Allegiance at all Official Meetings of the Board and recorded in the meeting minutes.
