California’s pubic employee unions were handed a serious blow in a Supreme Court ruling Wednesday that forbids them from collecting fees from workers who benefit from their representation but do not want to join them.

All that free Democrat money down the drain baby!

It will be - nothing to worry about. No money to pay - no promise to keep.

The court has to rule it unconstitutional. 300k a year public sector pigs living off people making 30k a year-the new Lords and the serfs.

LA and SF are examples of liberal priorities...

education sucks
housing sucks
water shortages
families are struggling
high taxes

but gays can merry each other, homeless everywhere, hiring for skin color and not ability to do the job, and unions with double pensions!!! ultimate equality, everyone down to the bottom, while government lives it up. why isn't everyone happy? Oh yeah and waiters are going to be fined $1000 if they give you a straw you didnt ask for, fucking criminals!!!!.

FortWayne says

I'll tell you why I'm happy. I just don't give a shit.
I was happy when I had almost nothing. Because I knew the future would be good.
I was happy when I had enough. Because I knew things were never gonna get worse.
I was happy when I had more than enough. Because I like to be happy.

Public Union debt is going to bankrupt Illinois, and it will eventually catch California.

Better to kill off the cancer before it spreads.

I'm in. How do you kill the cancer when Maxie Pad and company are still spreading it?

SCOTUS eviscerates Public Sector Unions

"Eviscerates" is a little strong.

Peer pressure will have most people full members of their unions. A lot of schools were pre-emptively making sure everyone, or nearly everyone is a paying member in preparation for this ruling before it happened (months ago).

What ? Are they going to have to raise dues $4/month to have the same money coming is as before ?

This is a microscopic step in the direction of what a lot of Right wing idiots want, but "eviscerates ?"

Lol. Sorry to burst your bubble, but no. Dream on.

I wonder about police unions ? On the one hand, a lot of them are probably republicans. But do you really think they aren't going to get pressure from their brethren to chip in ? Not just for protecting the collective bargaining for their salaries and pensions which are way more expensive than others public sector pensions. But I'm assuming their unions also cover a certain amount of a legal defense fund in the event a cop gets accused of wrongdoing or even murder. What kind of cop isn't going to pay in ? You gotta know the peer pressure is huge.
47   Ceffer   2018 Jun 27, 11:12pm

Question is, are 'members' aka 'enforced conscripts' really going to go for being browbeaten/extorted for lobbying funds and payola that have nothing to do with collective bargaining or contract negotiations?

The public service unions are thugs. If they can't force privatized taxation on their members under penalty, things will change.

Members can lodge protest by withholding dues, which means the unions have to govern by persuasion rather than plunder.

With new conservative SCOTUSES lined up like 747's on the tarmac at LAX, for the next generation the libby PC fuckfest constructed over the last 40 years is heading for the recycle bin. However this will not happen quietly. Civil war is imminent. .

This ruling alone will have far reaching consequences long after Trump's time in office.

It has permanently damaged the Democrat party in any state with public unions.

50   Y   2018 Jun 28, 5:29am

To that end all public pensions should be funded based on a defined income stream updated annually. When you retire you would be locked into that stream defined ar the time of retirement. No additional taxes to cover a stream that loses its flow. Just like private retirement streams.

There should never have been unions in government at all.

geeks who can take down most anything they feel like at any time they want and do it selectively

Oh be real! The mass of geeks who have leaned how to use tech developed by a select few are no more capable of taking down "the grid" any more that gun owners who show up at a firing range are Seal Team 6.
55   Shaman   2018 Jun 28, 7:52am

There ARE bad teachers for sure, but bad schools are generally the fault of negligent parents of the kids who attend. If the kids aren’t properly socialized and taught proper conduct at home, then teachers have to try, and often fail, to do that at school. That’s why upper income neighborhoods produce good schools and lower income neighborhoods produce terrible schools. It’s the people who live there who are the problem. It’s always been that way.

Let's be honest. The need for "Civil War" has been averted. With Kennedy being replaced, and Ginsberg with a 92% chance of croaking in the next 6 years (according to Vegas), the SCOTUS will be rational for at least 2-3 decades.

We're already seeing the fruits of Trump's labor.

- Terrorist travel ban was upheld.
- Public unions can no longer act as de facto political wings for the Democrat party.

I can't wait to see how Trump butt fucks the Socialist Democrats next.

Those armed 2nd amendment lovers are going to have a miserable existence without their beer, gas for their cars/trucks, money from the ATM etc. when the grid is selectively taken down along with most anything else connected to the net.

Haven't seen too many angry old white men who are keen on walking any distance lest they get those spiffy white shoes and creased blue jeans dirty. Then again the little woman won't be tagging along to cook for them, wash their clothes, pick up after them etc.

The geeks will just eb told that it is racist o turn off the grid and the cower in terror.

"Peer pressure"

"Hey Johnny Dem, if you don't join the union, and pay your $1,000 dues instead of fixing your roof, or sending your kid to Summer Camp, we can't be friends! Nyahh!"

Collectivist pressure is a hallmark of Democrat brains, but fortunately not everyone is a Democrat/Socialist.
60   Goran_K   2018 Jun 28, 8:35am

Feux Follets says
If only that were so. You do not need a mass of geeks or even geeks in this country. The electrical has been extremely vulnerable for decades and little to nothing has been to improve the safeguards.

So?

Who do you think suffers more from infrastructure damage during an armed conflict; guy who owns guns, can hit a man sized target at 300 yards 9 out of 10 times with a 5.56 round, can hunt and dress wild game, is part of the prepper community, has the equipment to filter water, has months of freeze dried food available, has prior military experience.

or....

Hillary Clinton supporting fat body, can't run more than 100 feet without being winded, has never fired a firearm, can't survive in the world without a Whole Foods within 2-3 miles, gets feelings hurt by being fat shamed, but apparently can run bot scripts he downloaded from his reddit hacker community.

I know who would end up in the mass grave in that scenario.

I can't wait.

- Terrorist travel ban in full effect.
- Public unions got kicked in the sack
- Kennedy about to be replaced by a real Constitutional upholder

It's going great so far and we're barely 2 years in.

Was it Mao that said you fight you way, I'll fight my way.

Mao's soldiers were tough farmers who knew how to live off the land in harsh conditions, could shoot a 7.62x39 round into a man at 100 yards, and had absolutely no fear of running into machine gun fire in mass infantry charges.

The typical leftist democrat weeps for hours if someone calls them ugly and fat.

Not a really good analogy there.

A real constitutional upholder just like Potus and the rest of the clan? Boy are we fucked...

Yes, you can tell by actually reading what they say.

"Judges should be in the business of declaring what the law is using the traditional tools of interpretation, rather than pronouncing the law as they might wish it to be in light of their own political views." - Neil Gorsuch, Trump Appointee to SCOTUS

"The Court of Appeals is where policy is made," - Sonia Sotomayor, Obama Appointee to SCOTUS

One is simply interpreting law, the other is practicing activism on the bench.

Nope. Over 200 counties in "fly over country" switched from Blue (Obama) to Red (and got Trump elected). Trump is literally proof that these people can change their minds about things.

Let me know when the coastal enclaves show that they can vote any other way than deep blue.

Feux - As with anyone here, I don't like 100% of others posts or comments. I like yours though for the most part, you bring some good stuff. You don't have to listen, but I'd suggest toning down the electric grid stuff. I'm generally not paranoid and you're 100% correct about the grid being vulnerable, but it may not be the best idea to post multiple comments on a public forum about bringing it down. This isn't sarcasm either. These are things that are "looked" for on the inter webs. Just my $0.02 (whenever you can get me the other $0.98 I'd appreciate it :) (that last part was sarcasm)
