"A 33-year-old Native American manager who does not speak English." This was the funniest to me. You know native americans are born here, right? There is no such thing as a native american born in the US who doesnt speak english.
If this was an actual situation in that our entire species future rested with 8 humans, it would be very easy to cut the useless from this list. 1. "An accountant with a substance abuse problem." Yeah I see no use for this dude. 2) "The accountant’s pregnant wife." Sorry babe, we need able bodied adults to survive the next 6 months, not a young mother and baby. 3). "A famous novelist with a physical disability." Later doofus, there is no room in our space ship for cripples. and 4) "An Asian, orphaned, 12-year-old boy." and "A 60-year-old Jewish university administrator." These two are a toss up.
