So, a patsy that is caught after a month or two is well nigh useless. So a patsy requirement is that he is 'caught' almost immediately with negligible investigation. Check on that.

No, but it was interesting listening to the FBI explain the bombs on ABC News. The briefer explained that the devices were not fakes, as the material inside could have exploded if subject to the right shock or ignition source. That means the material could be black powder or even fertilizer. A true reporter would have asked: "What was the explosive material?" and "As the devices where configured, where they actually capable of detonating on their own." I suspect these devices were about the same as mailing someone a bullet.

Not enough info. Apart from the clock allegedly having no alarm/timer cpabilities and the bomber's assertion re his intent, there is not much to go by.

It's a good thing he chose pipe bombs as his weapon of choice against the libby menace. If he had hurt their feelings with political incorrectness, that really would have been an atrocity.
