So let's see, from 2000 to 2017, the number of border patrol went up by a factor of 5, and at the same time the number of illegals apprehended decreases to about one fifth of what it was.

What's going on ?
Are we locking them in ?
We go from 9,212 to 19,437 border patrol from 2000 to 2017. How is that went up by a factor of 5? Can you educate me? ?

What's going on with the wall ?
The fencing works, less need for more BP... Go see my post in your other TDS thread for the FACTS!!

Sorry. You're right. The numbers I gave for illegals apprehended were 2000 to 2017, but the former were from 1992 to 2017 (that it went BP went up by a factor of 5)
MY bad. I'm tired and have had a couple beers.
Border patrol only roughly doubled from 2000 to 2017, while apprehensions went to less than one fifth. Still, I would make the same point. It's good to be aware of how serious the emergency is. It really is political bs.

Marcus, what percentage of violent criminals that are illegally in the US crossed the border illegally vs those overstaying visas?

No sweat.
If the number of apprehensions went to less than one fifth, shouldn’t we reduce the number of border patrol over the years rather than increasing it? That’s a lot of payroll the taxpayers have to pay. Something doesn’t add up.
I think it clearly shows that we have been beefing up security and that it is effective in preventing people from trying as much.
IT also may indicate that there are simply less people wanting to illegally come from Mexico. Certainly less are, unless one wanted to argue that even with twice the border patrols ( or 5 times the border patrols as 1992) which include a lot of high tech, more are somehow getting through (not being apprehended).
If that were true, a wall that covers a micro part of the 2000 miles sure isn't going to do much.

How about parts of the wall that were constructed a few years ago (under Obama). Any chance they're actually keeping more illegals out??
We’ve also constructed 649 miles of fencing out of nearly 652 miles where Border Patrol field commanders determined it was operationally required, including 299 miles of vehicle barriers and 350 miles of pedestrian fence.
Mark Morgan, Chief of Border Patrol under Obama “Yes. They absolutely work,” he said.
“If you look in the past, you don’t have to go too far back in history that bipartisan legislation that was passed … the Secure Fence Act. In 2006 and 2012 bipartisan legislation passed where they built the wall, or fence or physical barrier or whatever you want to call it. It’s a wall. It works.”
Nah..... fences and walls don't work, right. Go ask Nancy and Chuckie... they'll tell you. They're the "experts" on the subject, right?
