I can assure you this is perfectly true in San Francisco.

Simply having an opinion of your own can get you fired at most tech companies in SF. You're supposed to have and parrot whatever opinion the press and your corporate overlords tell you to have.

Google especially is exactly like this. See the case of James Damore.
