The Israeli High Court (SCOTUS equivalent) self-selects most of it's members from amongst the Lawyer's Oligarchy and other Judges. The Legislature, Prime Minister, and Head of State (a mostly titular/ceremonial role) are not involved.

Because Jew-Zionist-Khazar Mafia is SO united and scheming in total lockstep communicating telepathically across the cities and the oceans, the Left/Labor/Neoliberal parties doesn't want the Legislature to select High Court Judges as has been a proposed reform.

But it's worse! The High Court has no written constitution to follow, it's whatever judges find fits with their biases, oops, I mean "reasonable". And they can willy nilly select whatever 'precedence' they want from English Common Law, Turkish Millet Law, Talmudic Debates, or whatever UN/EU/International Law they want to model from. They could select the Hulk Hogan Fan Club Policy Book to draw from to create law, whatever is convenient to quote fits their own secular, left-liberal biases.

But that's not all! They can pre-empt decisions from officials or even proposed and yet unpassed bills being debated in the Legislature and pre-nullify them without needing to wait until it's wound it's way through lower courts.

The law system in a land full of Jews is so anarchistic, anachronistical, conflicted, and overall damn bad, Israeli Companies prefer to sign agreements with each other anywhere BUT Israel, the most popular being NY, London, Cyprus, and increasingly... Dubai! That's right, in a great cosmic joke, all the Finklestein Lawyers don't trust Israel's own judicial system so they'd prefer to go to the United Arab Emirates to do it where because of it being a nexus of the international trade and corporate law, the regulations and rulings are clear and predictable in advance which facilitates deal making and agreements. Unlike Israel where the Judges rule based on whatever humbug or fad they're currently into.

Now, the Left-Neoliberals in Israel don't want the the country to reflect the populist, center-right majority (sound familiar?) and want to keep the High Court selection system mostly Oligarchical and Self-Referential as it is today.

So many of the leftwing members of the IDF are dedicating themselves to preventing the democratization of the Israeli High Court so it's actually chosen by the people's representatives, the people's preferences can slowly shape the laws they have to live under, and not a Guild Oligarchy of Lawyers and Judges, they're threatening to go on strike.

TL;DR: The people "Defending Democracy" are the NWO Neoliberal Fascist-Oligarch lovers who want to preserve the High Court that pulls it's decisions out of their rectums with no Constitution they must refer to, but whatever "reasonable" rationalizations of their biases they feel like, and the government trying to make High Court Judges mostly picked by the Legislature of the People's Representatives are "Enemies of Democracy"
