Building might collapse, but they don't turn into dust clouds. This is a tropical environment, not a dry and dusty place. Also, Bangkok was 500 miles from the epicenter, about the distance from San Francisco to San Diego. That's like a large earthquake in San Francisco causing a building to collapse in San Diego.
