Just a few hours earlier, the U.S. ambassador to Denmark tweeted that it was “ready for the POTUS @realDonaldTrump visit!” using an acronym for “President of the United States” along with Trump’s Twitter handle.

Trump wrote: “Denmark is a very special country with incredible people, but based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time.”

He added: “The Prime Minister was able to save a great deal of expense and effort for both the United States and Denmark by being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling sometime in the future!”

From my experience, Dearborn is OK, not very dangerous. Half the population is Christian Arabs, half Muslim. So you truly have absolutely zero freedom of speech about Islam there, but the Muslims probably won't mug you. They'll just kill you if you say the wrong thing. (Of course Christians never kill anyone for anything they may say about Christianity, but that fact somehow goes unreported.)

It's the city of Detroit itself that is the disaster area.

Interesting tidbit about Dearborn:

A portion of my previous employment involved working for a guy that was a slumlord on the South and West sides of Chicago. I mainly just ran credit reports and did tenant screening as my previous boss was an utter dip shit with screening people. This is also why I've also said privacy is dead. I could find dirt on even the cleanest of tenants once they filled out an application.

There's money to be made, but it's management heavy. Huge time suck. And there's always a fear of pissing off the wrong person like in Patrick's comment above. Unless you're getting above 25% returns in these areas, it's really not worth the headache. Even then, there is a legitimate fear of your life and family on a daily basis, not joking.

It always intrigues the newbie guys/gals that want to get into real estate investment in Chicago. It's usually the worst place to start unless you're a ruthless ass hole and have conceal carry. "Hey look, a $40k two flat. I could rent those units out for $900/mo and make bank." Oh shit, the tenants have to pay rent...... There will also be no signification appreciation on the South and West sides until they tear most the housing stock down and create better neighborhoods where people want to live (parks, restaurants, bars, businesses, etc).

It's no joke when they call parts of Chicago food deserts. There are still neighborhoods where it would take 15-20 minutes to get to the nearest legit grocery store by car and much longer by public transit. That's why these neighborhoods are clearing out and Chicago is losing population. It will sound racist, but it's better for them to get the fuck out and not in a 97% black community where all they do is eat their own.
