Partisan tax-exempt organizations should be reported to the IRS

Thank you for your thoughts. Public Citizen is about policy and we are attacking Trump's on going policies not his candidacy. This may sound like semantics but there are very strict IRS rules we follow. This also means that we do not promote candidates that are more in line with our positions.

Sincerely,
Member Service

Subject: Contradiction on your website

Hi Public Citizen,
on the "about" page of your site, you have:

"We don’t participate in partisan political activities or endorse any candidates for elected office."

But then there is an anti-Trump graphic at the top of every page! It could hardly get more politically partisan than that, no?

I'd be grateful if you would correct the text to say you are an openly partisan group.

I'm all for your mission, just want to improve your credibility. Thanks for listening.

Patrick

Not attacking Trump's candidacy? Sure doesn't look that way:

What evangelical church is non-partisan?

How many evangelical websites have a picture of Bernie and a warning about his Communist Subversion on their front page?

Most of them. Although they do take sides on certain political issues like abortion, that’s not actually partisan. It’s issue politics.

I've been in multiple Catholic churches the past couple years with not one word about politics.

I've been attending a non denominational evangelical church the last several years and the only mention ever of political content was that the church would never violate God's word by marrying same sex individuals, even if that meant removal of the church's tax exempt status. The announcement was met by 5 minutes of standing applause from perhaps the most ethnically diverse congregation on the planet, of more than 1000 attendees. I assume the other 4 services that day were met with the same.

Remember when Obama weaponized the IRS?

I know I know. So much federal corruption under his presidency came to light after he left office it's almost quaint to mention.

Apparently a particular Catholic church in San Antonio convinced my mom we should be taking in migrants from South of the border. She votes Republican. Her head almost exploded in RELIGONEUROTODISSONANCE when I tried to explain to her that's not a Fox News talking point.

IRS asked to revoke Harvard’s tax-exempt status

The Trump administration asked the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to revoke Harvard University’s tax-exempt status on Wednesday, a day after President Trump suggested the idea.

Andrew De Mello, the IRS’s acting chief counsel, received an inquiry from the Treasury Department on Wednesday requesting that the agency rescind the Ivy League school’s tax-exemption status, according to The Washington Post.

“Perhaps Harvard should lose its Tax Exempt Status and be Taxed as a Political Entity if it keeps pushing political, ideological, and terrorist inspired/supporting ‘Sickness?’” Trump wrote in a Tuesday Truth Social post. “Remember, Tax Exempt Status is totally contingent on acting in the PUBLIC INTEREST!”

Tax exemption is reserved for nonprofits, social welfare organizations, religious groups and some educational institutions that fit the government’s criteria. However, they are banned from political campaign activity.

Lol, Harvard banned from political campaign activity?

Harvard is the main incubator of elite Democrats. That is its function: to instill ideological conformity in future members of the ruling class.

Nothing should be exempt of taxation. Absolutely nothing. Throw a gala for retards with no eyesight, you pay normal taxes on the donation and don't get a write off as a donor. OR you tax the common person less.

A bunch of churches and charity organizations make income with no tax. F that. They're literally corporations. Pay the corporate tax and eliminate the cheating tax code. Church leaders and charities pay themselves very well. Churches specifically I know it goes to nothing but the pastor/priest and higher ups.

Tax exemption for charities, especially churches, were done in exchange for staying out of politics. It was a subversive move to eliminate morality.
