Hahaha... You guys are meaner than me. I'm offering 50% back. Although partly because I don't want "He's a coronavirus meanie!" reviews to screw up my near perfect set so far.

Shit, I didn't click submit earlier today. I was going to say the same regarding reviews. Reviews can sink a vacation rental overnight if you get a few bad ones. If it's not too late, I'd offer a credit for a future stay and try and keep all the cash.

Although I suppose not having to deal with a tenant/vacationer and still get any cash for it is pretty solid too. People are ass hoes is the only concern. You being gracious and giving 50% back is still gonna get people pissy. Tough call. Weird times.

One changed her mind and is flying out in a week. Seems like she's over her fear. The other was happy with the offer and the third I haven't heard back from yet.

Right and Ebola and Covid-19 are almost the same. Very similar rates of and means of transmission, and equally likely to grow out of control, and likelyhood of growing exponentially in the US

You got that out of my comments? I contrasted the media's presentation.

Do H1N1 and Coronavirus, instead. The media also did not hype H1N1 like it did this Wu Ping Cough, though millions got it and it caused 11,000 deaths in the USA.

All this is hype is doing is further destroying the already low credibility of the News Media. In a few weeks, if bodies don't pile up in morgues, anybody who can be woken up will be awoken.

It’s insane. Literally every agency was calling it the Wuhan corona virus but as soon as Trump says it, it’s xenophobic and racists and horrible.

The media is literally out of their minds with CNN and MSNBHeehaw leading the charge.

Everyone is woken. The hype will stop shortly. I hung out with 3 nurses last night. Their only concern was quality of care due to a massive amounts of people getting sick and flooding hospitals with patients. The virus itself is very benign and flu like.

Everyone is going to get this thing whether they know it or not, but we can't all get it at once is the concern. I personally disagree and would like to just drive down the street with a sprayer and get everyone infected so we could just be done with this and people build immunity.

That is actually being considered as the strategy in Britain:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/13/herd-immunity-will-the-uks-coronavirus-strategy-work

It should be the only consideration. Mind you I have no immune or respiratory issues, so 100% biased. I don't think this goes away in 3-4 weeks when we attempt to start things back up to normal. In the meantime healthy people are losing jobs likely. Killing themselves. Some families that bust their ass but live pay check to pay check but don't live on the government teet will have trouble feeding themselves.

We are basically trying to protect old people from something that we cannot. It's pure stupidity. Just ban anyone that isn't a healthcare worker from interacting with the elderly. Specifically in nursing homes. That's the biggest issue in Washington. We get to the point of taking temperatures and shit and we'll end up putting people with colds in hospitals where they will likely get the virus when they wouldn't have.

Trump is handling this poorly in the opposite way most people would think. He should take the suck in up buttercup approach. Elderly, weak, immune compromised and respiratory issues just stay put and isolate instead of the whole fucking world. No different than peanut allergies. Understand you have an issue and adapt instead of expecting everyone else to upend their entire lives.

Chinese seems to be having some success in acute patients with chloroquine, an anti-malarial:

Poland is planning to use it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Coronavirus/comments/fi8eox/poland_has_formally_registered_chloroquine_as_a/

It's related to the quinine of tonic water: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tonic_water

Maybe a gin and tonic is called for!

Trudeau refuses to cancel direct flights from China. Today planes landed from Shanghai, Chengdu, Hong Kong, Beijing and other cities. Upon arrival, migrants are asked a question on a screen — in English & French — if they’ve been to “Hubei province”. And then they walk through.

@WookieMan Maybe that would work. Set a cutoff age, maybe 65, and quarantine all those people for their own benefit.

Then apparently your point was that the media presents very different things that have very different levels of danger to the population differently.

Got it. Good point.

Well that was a flu right ? Also different. But in hindsight, they probably also learned something then about the need to improve our preparedness, which is in fact probably now worse. Hence the talk of "flattening the curve," so that the stress on our system is spread out a little and we don't get an Italy situation. Especially considering it's already a bad flu season.

Considering what's happening in Italy, if it ends up being far less here, which would be great, it won't be the case that we weren't right to take precautions. With the possibly exception of despicable morons that are incapable of critical thinking.

H1N1 killed 11,000 Americans. How many has Coronavirus killed?

So all the ranting about Trump being a racist for closing travel from China is going to be apologized for?

Who ranted about it ? It wasn't me or any moderates liberals.

Why is it that all the shit you point out about supposed lefties has nothing to do with anyone I know ( okay maybe one or two sjws I know).

How can anyone not understand that you and your type want the division. Your side is the haters. In order to define me as being on the hater side you always associate me with whacko wierdos. You could never tolerate someone that wants to bring a strong middle together behind a leader that is good for most of us.

All you care about is spreading your "us against them" message. I guess we need a better word.

You're a dividist.

All you care about is your pathetic us against them message. Yes, I hate Trump and what he stands for every bit as much as you hate the SJWs and the wierdos.

So we should find leaders that are for both of us.

It's not Trump. Deal with it. Or continue with your constant stream of straw men of abberant behavior and ideas.

Time to close the border with Canada!

Okay, joking aside, the plan (for the few who had one) was never to stop the virus, only to slow it down so health care systems don't get overwhelmed. I think we're late. I worry about my baby sis who is the charge nurse for an emergency room at a major hospital in San Antonio. Somehow they convinced her to take the night shift which isn't super for the immune system.

We should probably close the border with Canada if we hope to reach that goal.

right wingers are trying to downplay it because of Trump

More like left wingers are trying to blame it all on Trump, because they blame everything on Trump, all the time and give him credit for nothing, ever.

Thus the NY Times proposing to call it "Trumpvirus", claiming he proposed cutting CDC funding for infectious diseases when he did not, etc.

And Biden accusing Trump of "xenophobia" for ending flights with China at the end of January, but this going unreported as the slander it is.

Thing is, the SJW's are overtly racist and sexist against innocent white people and innocent men. They lump everyone together, which is the very definition of racism and sexism.

I think it's known, so let's call a spade a spade. SJW people are the loser/weirdo people from high school. They're the idiots that didn't grow up and have all this angst towards everyone else when they are their own worst enemy. Grow the fuck up. We're god damn animals that use words. Go fuck the other gender and enjoy life.... stop looking for attention because you're a loser.

Yes, that's is likely the source of their mortal hatreds:

Man would fain be great and sees that he is little; would fain be happy and sees that he is miserable; would fain be perfect and sees that he is full of imperfections; would fain be the object of love and esteem of men, and sees that his faults merit only their aversion and contempt. The embarrassment wherein he finds himself produces in him the most unjust and criminal passions imaginable, for he conceives a mortal hatred against the truth which blames him and convinces him of his faults. ~ Blaise Pascal

BALTIMORE—Warning that the nation was unprepared to deal with the fallout of the global pandemic, researchers from Johns Hopkins University told reporters Friday they worried that Covid-19 would overwhelm America’s GoFundMe system. “GoFundMe is the bedrock of the American healthcare system, and as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rapidly spread, we fear the servers just won’t be able to take it,” said research director Dr. Monica White, who stressed that if the pandemic were to grow any worse, there simply would not be enough $5 and $10 donations from sympathetic strangers to go around. “America’s GoFundMe system is already overburdened. There are only so many links from sick friends of friends we can share on social media before the whole thing collapses. We recommend that if anyone is suffering from minor financial strife such a medical debt from the cost of insulin or cancer treatment, you defer to those diagnosed with Covid-19.” At press time, GoFundMe employees announced they were working around the clock to ensure the health and safety of the nation.

STANFORD, CA—In response to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, top U.S. health experts warned the nation Thursday to hold onto their fucking seats, because this bitch hasn’t even thought about starting yet. “We’ve been getting a lot of questions surrounding Covid-19, and, well, you all better buckle the fuck up, because this shit is about to kick into high gear,” said Stanford professor of health research and policy Richard Mason, throwing all his papers in the air and warning the nation that they better strap in tight, because this motherfucker will knock you on your goddamn ass. “If you think it’s bad now, just fucking wait, because this son of a bitch is gonna go into full-fledged annihilation mode. Seriously, wash your hands, cut off your hands—it doesn’t fucking matter. You poor bastards are going to get absolutely fucking destroyed.” At press time, Mason knocked over his podium, curled up in a ball on the floor, and started screaming, “Steel yourselves!”
