Is that alcohol, or alcoholic beverages? Everyone in a country having one shot of sake or a glass of rather light beer per day is different from a population that gets hammered on high proof liquor. I remember how in Norway and Iceland all men where unconscious after 10PM, but I do not remember seeing drunk locals in Japan.

I have corned beef but no cabbage. Still in the freezer. It's going to be fried onions with pink salmon (costco canned) over rice tonight.

yeah, but it's only a few of them at a time. o_O

According to my SIL who worked in Japan for several years it's pretty typical for so-called "salarymen" in suits and ties to literally lay passed out drunk on the streets every Friday night.

We were in Japan a few years ago and indeed saw some drunk businessmen passed out on the streets.

We were in Tokyo. They were in or near the subway stations. Kind of funny to see a guy in a nice suit flat on the sidewalk and everyone walking by him.

Most of the girls you find in Dublin these days are probably not Irish either.
