The social network has already removed protest messages in California, New Jersey and Nebraska.

Facebook is blocking anti-quarantine protesters from using the site to organize in-person gatherings in states that require residents to stay in their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The world’s largest social network has already removed protest messages in California, New Jersey and Nebraska from its site at the urging of state governments who say those events are prohibited by stay-at-home orders, a company spokesperson said.

Protesters have gathered in state capitals around the country in recent days to push back against their governments’ decisions to close non-essential businesses and requiring residents to largely isolate at home.

No one should use Facebook for anything, ever.

And I don't although I still have an open account. My last post was a pic of a pile of dog shit on the carpet, which is how I feel about Facebook.

Come to think of it, Facebook is harmful to both our freedom of speech and our privacy.

Our freedom of speech is being squashed by government officials asking/telling Facebook to remove political speech they don't like, such as lockdown protests.

Our privacy is invaded by Facebook sharing our social connections, and photos which others have naively taken, posted, and labeled with us in them.

You did know that Facebook is a ‘massive online surveillance program run by the CIA,” right? And that Mark Zuckerberg is a CIA agent codenamed the Overlord? Just watch the Onion video above. It explains the whole thing.

I especially like the Congressional “testimony” from the deputy CIA director:

After years of secretly monitoring the public, we were astounded so many people would willingly publicize where they live, their religious and political views, an alphabetized list of all their friends, personal emails addresses, phone numbers, hundreds of photos of themselves, and even status updates about what they were doing moment to moment. It is truly a dream come true for the CIA.

Not only that, think how much money it saves the CIA. Unfortunately, other CIA programs like Twitter aren’t doing so welll: “400 billion Tweets, and not one useful bit of data was ever transmitted.”

Also note the chart showing the success of Operation Farmville, which “the CIA credits with pacifying as many as 85 million people after unemployment rates rose dramatically.” It plots time spent playing Farmville versus hours working.

Wow, the original "Operation Facebook" is gone!

Too close to the truth.

BTW this is better journalism than 99.9% coming out of CNNPC, MSNPC, FOXPC or any other major networks.
