We're just going to do "virtual" when we want to go on vacation during school time. If we have a choice it will be physically attending school most of the time. They're opening up pandoras box with this. Tying funding to attendance and reprimanding parents is over if we don't open normally in August. If remote learning is okay during a pandemic, it's certainly okay if I'm out taking my kids to National Parks and the like.

Maybe this will end up being a good thing and we can travel more during the cheapest times of the year instead of being shamed for taking the kids out for 3-4 days here and there. They can't renege on this remote learning shit now is my point. Mr. Covid negativity just found a possible positive with Covid. Could reduce travel expense upwards of 40% to be able to travel during off/low seasons and have the kids do their school work remotely.

Shit, we could rent somewhere else monthly if we wanted as long as it had solid internet. Gears are now turning full speed.

And even if you could enforce it - what is it going to do but push COVID infections out until the Fall when Flu season ramps back up and all of the backlogged and cancelled medical procedures from the Spring overwhelm our hospitals?

No one. At least I know in IL they can't. County Sheriffs all around my area have said they cannot enforce EO's. They're not law. And also, unless you commit a crime and are under legal house arrest, no one can tell you to stay there and "quarantine" for X number of days. They cannot fine you. Yup. Even taking a flu vaccine it's highly likely that you'l get it multiple times in your life. The idea there's going to be an effective vaccine for this is laughable. I think it’s probably the clear advantage academically kids who attend school will get over those distance learning. Ever hear of misery loves company? So they feel they have to choose between risking their child’s life and holding them back academically vs those throwing caution to the wind. It’s not right, but I understand the mentality. Parents don’t want to become a MEME when their child gets sick and they had sent them to school... no matter the current Estimated .004% odds of death in children. They were pulled from schools in March... so that number is probably low and will likely rise.

Just look at that woman in Florida whose daughter caught Covid at a church party... as rare as it is... this type of thing psychologically scares parents. I saw the myriad of health issues this girl had and the mother’s delay in seeking treatment as the main issue.

But at that point it would be purely personal in nature, and not about potential transmission to others. So the argument for public health and protecting others from a highly communicable virus goes out the window.
