Mark your calendars, change your plans! Join Community Ambassador Leon Tynes, Jr. and guests for a roundtable discussion delving into how the Black Lives Matter movement has impacted our students that will be entering and continuing in CS educational spaces (and schools). The goal is to identify necessary supports to facilitate high quality instruction for diverse populations. We will also identify how teachers can change CS pedagogy to meet the needs of Black students as well as how they can work collaboratively to dismantle the patriarchal white-centered mindsets that plague the tech industry and society writ large.

Translation: dumb it down so illiterates can understand and then blame the white patriarchy when they still don't care.

How about: The computer doesn't know or care the color of your skin, ethnic background, or economic situation. In CS you learn the material or you don't; your program works or it doesn't. A 10-year-old computer that you plucked out of someone's trashcan is already 100x better than anyting from the 1990s and 100x more convenient than having to schedule time on a shared computer in the 1980s.

That said, it may indeed be time for the country to consider high-speed always-on internet to be a "utility." Then many government services can be streamlined by requiring people to use the internet much like people are required to use mail service or telephone service to interact with the government right now.

I suppose this writer never set foot in an engineering department in a major silicon valley tech firm.

"Translation: dumb it down to demonstrate that illiterates still don't understand at exotic levels of dumb-ness, and then blame the white patriarchy when they still don't care."

There, fixed it.
