Teachers unions are the primary driver of systemic racism. Making sure kids don’t get an education and don’t get a choice of a different school. The poorer the kids are the worst they are affected and the less education they receive. This means that poor kids get poor educations and stay poor for their lives. If they don’t just drop out, join gangs, and wind up dead at a young age.

Now the teachers unions have managed to also fuck over working parents. People with jobs are expected to quit them to stay home with the kids and homeschool them. Regardless of their budgets of course. The only thing that matters to the teachers is that they get to stay home and still get paid.
Now the LA Unified School District has authorized free daycare for teachers who are parents, so they have someplace other than home (which is where they will be) to send their rug rats so they won’t have to care for them while “teaching online” everyone else’s kids who don’t get free day care.

In my neighborhood there are several gyms which have opened as daycare/schools able to provide daycare for school aged kids with staff who can help the kids with their online lessons. This costs $155-200/week and goes until 3PM same as a regular school day. Working parents who can’t be home with their kids to help them are expected to shell out $650-800/month per kid to “educate” their kids while public schools we all pay for are shuttered because teachers are scared of Covid. But NOT too scared to send their own kids to day cares as long as the school district pays for that!

Fuck teachers unions. Seriously.

It’s in the article, buried:
“Teachers also will be provided with child care.”

This is a huge problem

As a father of two who works long hours, this school situation has put incredible strain on our family.

Huge problem indeed. I'm lucky in that I can stay home and literally don't have to work if I don't want to. I'm a unicorn though. So many people are getting fucked by this shit.

Remember 0.7% of our entire country is actively contagious with Covid per testing data and data on who has recovered. Of that 0.7% only 3.9% die and 70% of that is 55+. But hey, shut the fucking schools down because maybe 0.0000003% of the population could die... There's literally no data that suggest more people will die if we open schools back up full time. Not one shred of evidence. If anything, more kids are going to die and have lives of despair because of this. It's sick. Make me fucking angry like I rarely get.

https://babylonbee.com/news/public-school-teachers-adamantly-insist-their-jobs-are-non-essential

U.S.—Public school teachers gathered outside the schoolhouses of the nation this week, continuing to insist quite adamantly that their jobs are non-essential. We need to lockdown all non-essential work, like teaching, due to the coronavirus pandemic,” stated one teacher protesting outside her local elementary school. “What we do in the classroom is really not adding the kind of value to your children’s upbringing that we should risk spreading the virus.”

“If you look at the graduation rates, standardized test scores, and the studies that indicate public schools aren’t preparing students for the real world, believe me, we’re not doing your child any favors,” she added.

Another teacher holding a sign which read ‘Don’t Make Us Work!’ quickly chimed in, “But we should still be paid until there is a vaccine. People are suffering in this crisis, essential workers and non-essential workers alike, and we all just need to get through this together. God bless our essential workers.”

At publishing time, the protesters had ordered food delivery and more protesting supplies that arrived to them thanks to the hard work of actual essential workers.

Ugh... rumor this morning now is that my district might go full remote learning. So now the wife is looking at private schools. There goes $10k and we still have to pay taxes and fucking drive them there everyday...

I don’t think these people understand the damage to these kids and the absolute zero risk for them from COVID.

I’m legit thinking of getting a monthly rental near the tail end of hurricane season in the USVI and just do remote learning from there and the wife flies back and forth every other week or so for work.

Regarding the dress code of Roseville High : "If you look at our school district's history, we would never ban the use of the American flag," Roseville Community Schools Superintendent John Kment told the Macomb Daily. "We have a long history of working with the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) and other patriotic organizations. We would never ban an appropriate use of the American flag. We never have, nor will we ever in the future ban it” after the Facebook photo of Roseville High dress code went viral “ Metro Detroit school apologizes for mistakenly banning US flag in dress code” further “ Roseville High School officials said in a Facebook post that the reference to the U.S. flag in the dress code was an error, and should have read, "Flags shall not be worn in demeaning manner” http://westmipolitics.blogspot.com/2017/08/roseville-high-school-apologizes-after.html

“A lawsuit was filed Monday in State Superior Court against the State of California; Gov. Gavin Newsom; State Superintendent of Public Education Tony Thurmond; State Controller Betty Yee; and the California Department of Public Education; by a coalition of students, parents, and school leaders to stop the defunding of public school students in California. The defunding is in California budget Senate Bill 98, which deals with spending on K-12 education, and denies funding for students newly enrolling in a public school” “ Joseph Benson, Executive Director of John Adams Academy, noted that it is Northern California’s only tuition free, TK-12 Classical Leadership Education public charter school network. with three academies in Roseville, El Dorado Hills and Lincoln. Benson said they are expecting 763 new students to their newest academy in the fall, and had planned that the students would have state funding. Benson said they are defunded $6.3 million, with disparate impacts on the students. He said the newest academy has been six years in development – obtaining the charter, acquiring property, locating a developer, permits, etc… to open in August. They’ve purchased computers, books and hired staff to accommodate the nearly 800 new students. “We have a moral obligation to serve students. The state withholding funding does a gross injustice to students and families,” Benson said. meantime Democrat leaders send their kids to private school Claiming , they know what’s best for the rest of us

I'm in a red county west of Chicago by a decent amount. Problem is the district is partially in another county, actually a smaller town than mine, but it's a bigger county by a factor of 10. So the district has to clear that county's hurdles for reopening. Complete bull shit given there's maybe 120 students from that county and the remaining 600 are from the more relaxed county.

Town to the West of us is open full day, every day. That's all I wanted. And our teachers are mostly local and are not a bunch of cunts afraid of the virus. They've already done summer school classes and allowed anyone to attend that wanted to. But now cases are starting to ramp up again in IL, and no neck, fat fuck Pritzker is doing his dictator bit and telling us what we should do with our kids. Like when the fuck was that his decision?

It’s how it works, as long as you give masters money, all can be forgiven.

So yeah, fuck that union!
18   Ceffer   2020 Aug 7, 8:57am

The California Teacher's Union have become the mafiosa who get paid for no-work and even no-show jobs at construction sites. Their purpose is slogan dissemination and indoctrination. They are opposed to anything resembling true education, if they are even capable themselves of rendering or understanding true education, which appears to be in serious doubt.

Young people leaving these schools are abysmally ignorant, semi or illierate, and unprepared, no matter how many gold stars they get. They are only intended to be consumers of welfare scraps and brainwashing from the Royalist Libbyfuck Central Planning tables.

Second to fourth generation printing press diplomas, now, what else can they do but become audacious parasites. They can't produce anything.

that sounds like a detail that would be thoroughly vetted and thought through before making a purchase.

A renter who chose such a place could more easily relocate to a place with less dysfunctional jurisdictional issues.

Huh? Or I can just send the kids to private school. Doesn't much matter about renting or owning, so not sure the point you're trying to make. My point is the governor of my state, that has zero clue or idea about any of the counties around me, gets to be a dictator and decide what taxpayers do with their own district. We get little state funding for our school. They should have little to no say in the fucking matter. That's my point.

Good idea. More folks are turning to this alternative.

A lot of good stuff has been going on in public schools. Many kids with great outcomes, even in lower income neighborhoods. Sadly, though, in spite of those, mediocrity is becoming the norm.

In my state, we're long past the Mission Creep of the goal of public education from educating kids, into protecting the Protected Class of the unionized employees (mainly teachers). And administrators of course.

In my diverse state, rags-to-riches two term mayor of LA who was born into family of poor immigrants from Mexico, and a product of public education, ought to have been a good candidate for the governor job.

But as mayor he dared to have the temerity to suggest that poor families might be better served with school choice like a voucher, earning him the wrath of the public employee unions who rallied behind Newsom.

Villaragosa wasn’t all bad. He seemed like he held a modicum of common sense and wanted to do good things for his people.
That’s why we have a governor who is ALL BAD. Gavin Newsome couldn’t give two shits about the people of California. He’s an asshole and he’s abusing his power to act like an actual fucking dictator to us. He takes personal offense when his orders are objected to or ignored and lashes out with whatever jackbooted resources he has available to punish regular citizens who want to do awful things like go to church, feed their families with productive labor, and send their kids to school.
I don’t think I’ve ever hated a politician as much as I hate Gavin Newsome.

Politics is always a rags to riches story. When do they ever leave public office with a few years of savings extra from their salary? That's why the sociopaths flock to politics.

Jesus... Cooking of all things. That's literally one area where I know the internet would be able to teach your kid better than a physical teacher or them doing it remotely by a teacher probably just grabbing the stuff from the internet anyway. Makes no sense.

My own mom cooked the same shit every week basically, so I was never taught anything with regards to cooking. Self taught myself through the internet and literally now get requests from people for me to cook stuff for weddings and other events. It's a top 5 hobby for me, so maybe that helps me to be into it, but paying a teacher a salary to do that is pure stupidity. There are 100+ really good cooking channels on youtube alone that a middle or high schooler would learn more from. Most the time it's probably the English teacher or drivers ed teacher that takes a culinary class on preparation and cleanliness. Usually has nothing to do with making good food.

Agreed. Though I start from the top, at least with my district which had zero preparation for this back in March. I don't know, I live in IL where a F-5 tornado could wipe out our school from March to October, yet they have no fucking plan in place for remote learning?? Yet the superintendent is getting paid $160k for a district with 670 students TOTAL? How was there not a plan for a natural disaster at minimum? I know most are from CA here, what about an earthquake? FL friends and hurricanes?

Most teachers are good, but as with anything they also need to take some of the blame. It's really obvious right now how technically and computer illiterate they are. I'd guess 9 out of 10 students that are say 10 years old right now are going into fields that will required medium to advanced computer knowledge. Maybe my district is small, but their computer education is substantially inadequate. From simple things like email and not including all the email addresses of the class roster for everyone to see. BCC is there for a reason. I really don't want certain people knowing my email address.

Whatever though. We're all union hating ass holes because we point out a flaw in the system....

Fuck that with a capital F. So far we're at full week, but half days morning and afternoon sessions. I'm on a board with the wife of the high school VP and she hinted last night that shit may change still though. If it's anything less than half days we're going private. With half days and no PE, recess or lunch, they're still getting close to a full day theoretically. This 2 full day stuff and the rest of the week basically off is pure shit.

In Oakland unified 40% of kindergartners did not show up for their first zoom class.

Might as well homeschool if you have to be home and school your kids. Worthless school districts like OUSD should have all their employees cut to half pay until they can physically reopen. Classes would resume this Friday.
