Catholics were political minorities in Federal Politics, even if they dominated local politics. But there was no way a Catholic Latin European Last name was going to be President until at least the middle 90's. Enough of the old school constituents that was a show stopper for died off. America was predominantly Protestant and Baptist, Catholics with their Saint worshiping was seen as kooky and pagan to the collective American Christian constituency.

I wore my Trump shirt to work last Thursday, I didn't get any negative feedback from any of the coworkers or anyone at work. But I went to that shitty horrendous gawd awful Publix for lunch near my job in Palm Aire.
