Perhaps the single most dramatic example of this phenomenon of software eating a traditional business is the suicide of Borders and corresponding rise of Amazon. In 2001, Borders agreed to hand over its online business to Amazon under the theory that online book sales were non-strategic and unimportant.
There is a clear way to not pay it.
Annnnddd this is why I liked Trump on China.... You can't move jobs overseas if you have no viable market to import back to.
Under the new law, any company whose top executive earns 100 times more than their average worker
I can't think of a single good reason to take a poor person, and add red tape, paperwork, and stress to their life through a tax system.

Companies will just lay off all their low-pay workers and hire them through a shell corporation. Problem solved.

When business comes under the microscope, you can be damn sure they will make sure the competition is paying their fair share.Ah. Yes. That does make sense. Thanks!
"A poor person, if you indirectly tax the employer, thinks they aren't getting taxed and always pushes for higher taxes and more "free stuff." "
Bad argument. A poor person already isn't paying federal income tax after deductions. We're just making them fill out a bunch of paperwork to prove they are poor basically. And we get to hire some people in government to make sure we review that paperwork.
Nothing about filling out paperwork prevents people from voting for more free stuff for themselves.
It's direct. It's simple. There is a clear way to not pay it. And you are free to choose whether to pay it or not, and control it though your own actions. In addition, it's not egregious! It's under 1%! In addition, it targets the business entity itself, and not the CEO. The only way this could be better is if it automatically expired, and needed to be renewed with an updated vote, just in case it is a bad idea with unintended consequences.
Never let it be said that I didn't agree with a liberal idea when it was a good one.
