I've been before in Jan. Temps are obviously better than here in IL. I know it's always changing but is it worth taking a trip out there with all the Covid BS? Is nothing open? Been searching this morning for flights and I'm getting insanely cheap deals. Kids are going full remote, so no need to sit here in the heart of winter doing that shit. I just know CA is equally if not worse than IL with the shut downs. I know a few of you are down there, but just putting my feelers out there to see if it's worth it.

Don't know if it makes a difference, but might be able to stay out there 2-3 weeks. So we could theoretically "quarantine" in a vacation rental for that time. Still would like to get out and eat or do some activities. Let me know CA boys.

Current three week closure of in person dining in LA County.

If you are coming at the very few first days of January it may be worth it to get tickets to Knotts Berry Farm Taste of Merry Farm. It’s in OC and they are way more relaxed than LA. It’s worth the two hour drive IMO.

Come to Brownsville, TX. Ca. 70/50 F in Dec, and little in terms of shutdowns. And polite, helpful people, no homeless infestations. Not as exciting as SD though

Not necessarily looking for excitement. I just know the temp and weather is consistent in that part of CA. That's really all I was looking for with the possiblity to eat out occasionally to get out of the house.

Looking at Southern FL, but I've never liked the vibe down there, more of a panhandle guy and that won't be warm enough for my liking. I'lll look into TX though too. Just want a place with a pool and some privacy, so maybe Brownsville is the spot. If we're doing this remote learning shit, I'd rather get the F out of IL for a couple weeks and potentially up to a month. HRL is just down the road too, so it's intriguing. Likely would be cheaper too.

Puerto Rico is another option, but not liking the flight prices as we'd be bringing my nephew with. They're even more strict with Covid and all 5 of us would have to get tested again. Pain in the ass.

Might be a casino or two open in San Diego. The Syrucan is nice I hear.
