Virtual Land Valuation

I'm looking into risking some money in Crypto. I'm putting some money into Decentraland, it's a virtual world, there are 90,000 plots, all are sold. These plots make up a 3D virtual city and it's all programmable, they just partnered up with Unity. The currency of the land is called MANA and the cheapest land is selling for about $1000 per plot, but people are asking for $10/month in rent, or giving free rent because they can't use it. What would a real world purchase price be on land that rents at that rate?

None of the mutts have any real suggestions that even come close to or even has a chance at better profit potential....
Instead they spew how rich they are w/o a shred of proof.... I just let the crypto price speak for itself as proof positive....
Watch and be amazed how fast $BTC hits and exceeds $50K

Here’s a piece of real land in the real world. You can go there in real life and live there should you wish. It’s selling for $40k and it’s in Alaska about 30 minutes by float plane from a major airport in Anchorage. It’s really remote despite that without any roads. Here’s a picture.

Nice place why don't you own it? Crypto land although it's not my thing is way easier to access.

I feel like most investments I've seen that are aggressive, but not crazy risky, tend to give ~6-10% CAGR. If it's real estate, you need to make sure you combine appreciation with rental cash flow when calculating CAGR (and possibly also tax savings). With low priced RE, such as rural/ghetto/undesirable homes, usually most of your money comes from cash flow from rents, and very little from appreciation. Conversely, with high priced RE in major job growth areas, it's not uncommon for a house to be worth 1-2 million, but only rent for $48k / yr. After rental expenses, that's probably like 2-4% CAGR from rents, but you'll likely see appreciation bump you up quite a bit towards that 6-10% range.

In fact, with many high priced homes, you can't charge enough rent to cover the mortgage payment + expenses - you come out of pocket somewhat, but many people do it with the hope appreciation will save them.

If decentraland plots are renting at 120/yr, thats 12% + potential appreciation, which is good, although I question how many can rent it at that rate if some are allowing free tenancy. But, I'd imagine the risk is very high. And if like you said, many are renting for free, it sounds like the majority are just holding it as a moonshot on appreciation.

I'll buy it for $40K.

I can see it, but I can't see how to buy it.

Anybody else have their 10x bagger plays... By all means do share ...

It's called a business. Mine pays me 10X month after month from my original investment. Investments don't have to be crypto at all to easily outperform it. Just a thought. I prefer control over dumb luck. It's done me better than crypto, that's for sure. Though I won't touch the stuff, so not a fair comparison I guess.
