Lol, no idea. Mine only has 2 of 7 trustees and no village president at the moment. Love small towns, but the politics get heated when everyone knows each other. FB and other social media doesn't help either. As a small town you get like $40 a meeting, so no one is in it for the money with 2 monthly meetings and maybe a committee meeting every other month.
It's not worth $1,200/yr to get shit on by your neighbors you know. I was a c hair from running for a trustee position, but the wife travels too much and the kids are still a touch young to be solo at home. Maybe next round though.
I do know our village is one of them that needs bailout money though. Do I want it, no. But our village is of modest means and I'd say 70% of jobs people work are blue collar. We're the rich kids in town.
Some very poor mismanagement in the 90's that we're still dealing with too. Got in trouble with the EPA for dumping shit into the creek. Radium in the water too which is common here and a pain in the ass to deal with. So sewer and water has been a huge issue and a lot of debt was taken on to solve that.
Kudos to you though for having a city that is responsible. It's not too difficult unless there are idiots in charge or physical issues with the municipality. Ours were mainly the sewer and water, so were not in the best of shape currently. I'll still take 2k people over 100k though.

My old hippie roommate from Venice bought a ranch outside a small town in the high desert outside of LA. Somebody told him he should run for city council. Immediately, the mayor and opposition labeled him 'an immoral fag' because he was single and not who they wanted.
His response was to go a City Council meeting and tell the mayor to bring his daughter out for him to fuck in front of the City Council to prove he wasn't a fag. i gather he won the seat.

During the 1st round of free money bailouts from the Federal government, it doled out the money to some of the city's small businesses. I guess some people questioned how these amounts were determined. I mean the city tried to do right and they added utility payment funds to residents who lost their jobs so they wouldn't have to worry about power and water bills.
During Biden's bailout of municipalities, they got some more free money. The Federal government put in a stipulation that the city couldn't use it to reduce taxes. Since they got grief for just passing it out last time, this time they gave bonuses to all city employees. Good for them.
