I travelled in Israel and Egypt in the 80's. I found the Israelis to be crusty (OK, a lot of them are jerks, or do a convincing imitation thereof) but they were no threat to me.

I found the Muslim Palestinians to be bipolar: either you are their best friend ever, or they literally want to kill you and dance in your blood.

The Christian Palestinians (are there any left over there?) seemed much more Western and easy to get along with, though very clannish.

Sure, I'm overgeneralizing, but I really believe that there are some huge cultural differences between Israelis and Palestinians. I can't really see them getting along, ever.

You're over-estimating the number of rockets that the Palestinians have or use.
