Ironic since the whole idea of Easter eggs and related bunny and basket are distractions to what Easter actually is - the resurrection of Christ and the holiest day in the Christian calendar.

Not really. Easter is the original biggest Christian holiday. Christmas was added later to distract from the pagan solstice celebrations.

technically the Romans were the first ones to "recognize" a Jesus , so it makes sense that the holiday of Jesus birth would embrace Roman traditions
