I respect the religious that are moral and do the right thing. As someone not religious I still expect some decorum. Religious people as a whole don't live up to that standard from my experience. They're ass holes and use it as cover for being an ass hole.

Sufis practice Guru Yoga, it has almost nothing to do with Islam besides making Mohammed into some guru.

Religion may be, strictly, incorrect - however, it's time tested for a stable society.

"Intelligent" people seem to go out of the well warn path, but generally when you're exploring some new route, you nearly always end up with a dead end. You're not just competing against present people, you're competing against generation after generation after generation. The "new paths" you wander along might very well have been walked before, 1000 years ago, and forgotten, because they were found to be dead ends 9 centuries ago.

Religion has utility but I'm disturbed at it's abuse by the powerful. However, when you're exploring "new" ways to view and explore the world, you're doing it without any benefit of prior knowledge which has been built over millennia.
