He has millions of views on youtube, and has other nice songs.

Unfortunately, I don't like this type of "music" but words are excellent

His lyrics really are excellent:

Tom MacDonald Lyrics
"Brainwashed"

Half the country fell asleep but they scream woke
We're distracted by vaccines and TV shows
Politics, celebrity, gossip, popular neat quotes
Black lives, white lives, which lives mean most?
We only dedicate one day to remember our fallen soldiers
The men and women who died young
But if you come out the closet as Caitlyn Jenner
You're a hero and you get a whole pride month
The most dangerous pandemic's propaganda from these clowns
Only mask that's gonna save us is duct tape on they mouths
Don't speak, we don't need to defund police
Need to defund the media who lies through they teeth, like
Big pharma doesn't cure you, dog
'Cause every patient that gets cured is a customer lost
And big oil runs the world, the only wars that get fought
Are with the countries who have natural resources they want

Heard 'em claiming if a white man braids his hair
And likes rap, he's appropriating culture
But if a white man acts too white he's white trash
He's a racist, he's a bigot, he's a monster

Let's just have the conversation
Not every liberal is dumb, not all Republicans are racist
The government wants everybody fighting with their neighbors
'Cause they know that if we get along, we'll probably go against 'em

They can't stop us 'cause we're ready to fight
Try to brainwash us but we won't let freedom die
The whole world's brainwashed
Everybody pick a team, start a riot in the streets
The whole world's brainwashed
It's us against them, it ain't you against me

How did monkeys become people and people turned into sheep?
They put fluoride in the water that's keeping us all asleep
Claim they want what's best for us, I find that hard to believe
'Cause they been selling us cigarettes since we was eighteen
Fake news, fake woke, distract, and divide
You're either right or you're left or you're black or you're white
Big tech don't need a microchip to hack in your life
'Cause the phone inside your pocket is a tracking device
And I don't know what I'm more sick of, rappers or Joe Biden
Looking like he ate a hundred Xanax for dinner
'Cause censoring the president and kicking him off Twitter
Is a bigger threat to freedom than foreign ballistic missiles
You don't trust the police or the government but you want
People giving up their right to own a firearm
Why would you be comfortable if police and the government
The only people on the planet with the right to buy a gun
White privilege getting amplified to reinforce division
It convinces white people that they're favored by their skin
And black people getting angry 'cause they're told they're treated different
So the conflict is between us and never with the system

Let's just have the conversation
Not every liberal is dumb, not all Republicans are racist
The government wants everybody fighting with their neighbors
'Cause they know that if we get along, we'll probably go against 'em

They can't stop us 'cause we're ready to fight
Try to brainwash us but we won't let freedom die
The whole world's brainwashed
Everybody pick a team, start a riot in the streets
The whole world's brainwashed
It's us against them, it ain't you against me

Step one, train the people only to consume
Step two, infiltrate adults with the news
Step three, indoctrinate the children through the schools
And the music and the apps on the phones that they use
Step four, separate the right from the left
Step five, separate the white from the black
Step six, separate the rich from the poor
Use religion and equality to separate 'em more
Step seven, fabricate a problem made of lies
Step eight, put it on the news every night
Step nine, when people start to fight and divide
Take control, this is called situational design

They can't stop us 'cause we're ready to fight
Try to brainwash us but we won't let freedom die
The whole world's brainwashed
Everybody pick a team, start a riot in the streets
The whole world's brainwashed
It's us against them, it ain't you against me

I listened to a bunch of his songs, and he keeps the theme up. He's proud of his self-production, so he isnt beholden to the pressures of a record label upon his speech. Dude's based.

Haha - a lot of rap was extremely political when it first began. Listen to early stuff, even Eminem which is far later. He was castigated by the media. There's a film about him. I think it's called 8 mile, but I'm not certain that's the one I want you to see.

Since rap was (intially) a POSITIVE force for political change, it had to be crushed. So assholes that sang "rap" about whores, drugs, and money was promoted, ENDLESSLY.

You're probably my age or so, if this is correct you were a teenager in the 1980s. Don't you remember the relentless condemnation of "rap music" in our "news" during the 1980s? If not, your friends told you it wasn't music and it was crap and filled with filth, or your parents did. White people that appreciated it were called "wiggers". This was done before it was taken over, and dickheads and asshole gangsters were endlessly promoted as "top rappers".

Gangsters don't have any fucking morals, they are sociopathic assholes, they will sell out for money, easily. You see this with a lot of "journalists", Rachael Maddow wasn't always a lesbian whore media slut, but she sure is now. Same with Amy Goodman. Same with the The Young Turks. Same with Steven Colbert. These USED to be an actual resistance to fascism.

Propaganda is EVERYWHERE. It's not just on your "news", it's in your entertainment as well.

Don't believe me?

Look at the whore. He's a decent actor, that's why he was hired to make propaganda.

Notice the music in the background as well. This is done to subtly influence your emotional state. It's not very noticeable, you may not notice, but the sponge that is your brain will. If you think you are immune to propaganda, you most definitely are not. Nobody is, the best you can do is recognize it. There are armies of psychologists that work against your ability to think clearly. Nobody is immune.

Your whole comment was great. I quoted only part of it to show what I believe is the base problem. That problem i believe is G.R.E.E.D. People will do/say anything for fame and $$.

I was not in US of A in 1980's, and by "dislike" I mean musical qualities or more precisely lack of them in this type of music. It ain't Mozart or Bach, and not even Johnny Cash.

The problem at the lower levels is greed. What greed is used to do, is to consolidate power. The people that own the Federal Reserve don't care about money, they have much as they want, they aren't audited. They want power and power for power's sake.

I only judge music based on the lyrics. There's a LOT of music I despise.

In the 1980's, that's when "rap" was created - well actually the 1970s I guess, I first heard it in the 1980's and thought it was "total garbage", and what was played on the radio was. Key and Peele (a comedy team) made some sharp commentary on the political versus "the popular" aspects of it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwmw3TYOOdk

This is exactly what happened. The original incarnation of the music genre was EXTREMELY political and it was largely positive. That couldn't be promoted and it was driven underground.

Lyrics and signing are the worst part of music outside of a few exceptional talents. Most music played now with instruments and not a computer are god awful. There are few remaining "real" musicians today.

People love music, but 97% have zero clue what goes into it AND how it's been manipulated in the last 20 years. Live or in studio almost every song you hear sung (vocals) is or has been auto tuned. Basically not an actual recording performance of the person signing.

I've recorded 3 albums from high school until about 26. The one we spent the most on and processed the most was the worst sounding. I drum and they moved snare and bass drum hits to the grid. Computers have fucked up music in my world. If you can't lay down a mostly perfect take as a band, you probably shouldn't be playing.

Are you suggesting the the Fed be audited?

That's crazy, as all right-thinking people know!

Lol. We should audit their ass annually at the very least.

It's the only meaningful part of the music. If I just want to hear pleasant sounds, there's lots of classical music to choose from.

I've heard a few actually. Here, check this out:

I tried to find them somewhere else but because they aren't political they haven't had any trouble on youtube. They're an AMAZING cover band.

I know how computers both fucked up and improved things - how it's changed things. A computer makes better music than an orchestra does. Sorry.

Pink Floyd is HIGHLY processed. I prefer their studio recordings to live and the reason they are different is that the song you hear from the studio are multiple takes, pieced together, and oversampling everywhere. It's what makes them so complex. It's not even POSSIBLE for a band to play what you hear in the studio. Maybe if they had a 1000 people in the band..

Still - some good covers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hThz_m0FyM4

It's a good cover, but honestly, I didn't like PF during the Syd Barrett years.

Reminds me of a story, which I will just repeat here:

"According to Roger Waters, Barrett came into what was to be THE Pink Floyd's last practice session with a new song he had dubbed "Have You Got It Yet?". The song seemed simple enough when he first presented it to his bandmates, but it soon became impossibly difficult to learn and they eventually realized that while they were practising it, Barrett kept changing the arrangement. He would then play it again, with the arbitrary changes, and sing "Have you got it yet?". Eventually they realized they never would and that they were simply bearing the brunt of Barrett's idiosyncratic sense of humour"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwOXk9stg9A

I thought it was an awesome joke. Waters was supposedly so pissed off, that he would never play with Barrett again.

I'm actually not a PF fan, I like a few of their songs such as comfortably numb, Astronomy domine etc. and recognize their brilliance, but usually prefer covers such as this one:

Of course some kind of stranger by Sisters Of Mercy (the transition around minute 6) blows PF out of the water imo. But I like Voivod - many great songs by this Canadian gem out of @Rin's favorite city.

I mean listen to the drums at "tribal convictions":

Old one but seems relevant to the discussion. Flobots - “Handlebars”
It’s like a description of the way that power starts out fun and harmless and can escalate to insane megalomaniac destruction. I liked it years ago. Example of a rap song that’s political.

I've been having this conversation for a few years now. I think control is a former of greed. It isn't enough to control your own life so you've got to control everyone else's also. It's not unlike trying to have all the $$. Maybe I'm missing something.

Money and control are the same thing.

They are both the ability to get people to labor for you.
