I think the big problem is not intelligence, since a seven-year-old could tell that the virus is weak and that the panic was deliberately spread for profit and power.

The big problem instead is emotional resistance to the truth. People on the left would feel crippling levels of anxiety if they came to the same conclusions as that seven-year-old. So they simply cover their eyes in the presence of unwanted facts and refuse to come to any conclusions which make them uncomfortable.
