Maybe the battle is between those who unfairly benefit from credentialism, and those who don't.

Liberals defend their credentials which allow them to exploit those who don't have the same credentials. Credentials create monopolies, the ability to set high prices regardless of quality of service. It is a way to defeat free market competition.

The funding of universities depends entirely on the demand for their degrees, which they control. Their biggest horror would be a system where anyone could take tests to prove competence in a subject without paying for the years of classes and subjecting themselves to obedience to professors.

Thatcher and Trump refused to give the automatic respect many academics feel is their due. They gave the impression that they could see right through us, an uncomfortable feeling.
- Thomas Frank

Most of academia is less about learning than about paying for a paper proof of status and conformity. Non-conformists are expelled from schools, or failed out. Most teachers do not like their authority to be questioned. Bosses like the academic proof of conformity when they hire. The most "educated" are the most obedient.

Trump was a threat to their credentials and therefore a threat to their incomes and status.

The academic elite need a reason to hate those threatening themselves, therefore they use imaginary "racism", to which there is no defense. The accusation is the conviction.

Then they don't need to worry about the real class problem, which is independent of race. They would be uncomfortable looking at class, because they'd have to look at themselves and their unearned class privileges.

So their faith in the injection is faith in the "expert class" of which they are members, and they demand that the hoi polloi submit to it as an expression of the elite's power and prestige.

The core of wokeness seems to be the cultivation and weaponization of resentment, and the CCP figured this out a long time ago.

Children often resent their parents' power over them, so children can become weapons for the criminal oligarchy/deep state.
Women often resent men's strength and status, so women can become weapons for the criminal oligarchy/deep state.
Gays/trannies often resent the normalcy and happiness of straights, so gays/trannies can become weapons for the criminal oligarchy/deep state.

Any group that has a feeling of resentment can be turned into attack dogs.

The embarrassment wherein he finds himself produces in him the most unjust and criminal passions imaginable, for he conceives a mortal hatred against that truth which blames him and convinces him of his faults.

- Pascal

I experience these "struggle sessions" at my work (I'm in that limbo known as Corporateland). It's fucking disgusting. The worst part is that it was started by blacks after Floyd, but then the bitches, and the fags, and the tranniies completely took it over. Literally, the blacks gave a token "hey, it's about injustice about black people - what all y'all white fags and she-males doin here?" but then they went silent; after all, it's important to be a good neighbor on the socialist plantation,

https://lorthew.substack.com/p/the-pandemic-and-the-lucifer-effect

A highly repetitive news cycle lamented gruesome details that lead to prolific fear and prolonged terrorization. Public health directors talked in confusing circles and issued senseless protocols that did little to help address any of the proposed problems. Suicide rates skyrocketed during the lockdowns shining a dim light on the internal terror many were struggling with during isolation. (Suicide Rates Rise, Spotlighting Pandemic’s Mental Health Toll, 2022)

The lucifer effect truly emerged as we saw the global wardens collaborate on what the conditions were for release, a mandatory experimental medical product. For some who were deeply tormented by the fear of an illness, submitting to this was an overwhelming relief. They quickly clung to the hope it offered while ignoring that those who had committed the worst atrocities during this time, were also the ones offering the solutions. They fell into dogmatic thinking, and mass psychosis, and welcomed forced physical measures. They quickly became the guards, using social pressure, physical violence, and threats to force their ‘solution” to the current problem. "Even individuals who are inherently moral in character and upbringing can, in a corruptive social setting, be induced to act dishonorably and unethically."

Initial reports were that the product proposed would stop all transmission of the infection, and life would return to normal if everyone complied. (Pfizer, 2020) World leaders repeated that life could not be normal without compliance. As time went on the world realized a simple truth, the solution was likely worse than the problem. Despite an initial overwhelming compliance, mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and social restrictions lingered in place. Then, they demanded more injections.

Brave doctors, lawyers, and good humans (the observers) stood up and began telling the truth. The vaccine wasn’t working, it was hurting. The wardens and guards had become indifferent to the pain they were causing, the lives they were taking, and the torment they were continuing to inflict. Those who were adamant they retain the power they had assumed doubled down and tried to suppress any dissent. They revoked the licenses of doctors who opposed them, silenced those on social media who provided data and information on injuries or alternative treatments, ruined livelihoods, and started a propaganda campaign to strengthen their guards and amplify their cruelty.

America's Bizarre and Venal New Religions
The COVID-19 Cult and other strange forms of worship.

This morning a friend in Boston drew my attention to strange essay titled The School That Couldn’t Quit Covid, which tells the story of the Elizabeth Ann Clune Montessori School of Ithaca, New York. As the author, David Zweig, relates:

As of today, children at EACMSI are still required to mask indoors and outdoors. They are still prohibited from speaking during lunch. Second-graders who began school there as kindergarteners in fall 2020 have never experienced a normal day of school in their lives. …

This is the story of why EACMSI is among the last schools in America to still enforce such draconian measures. It is also the story of how, when faced with a crisis, many public health authorities—along with regular people and bureaucrats following the authorities’ lead—believed that the more extreme the response to the virus, the more wise and virtuous the policy. ...

Philosophers and anthropologists have long observed that humans seem to be inherently religious in nature. Thus, if people no longer believe in the God of Judaism or Christianity, they are left in a spiritual vacuum in which they feel an implacable yearning to believe in something else. Many of the social and political movements that are now afoot in America and Europe strike me as an expression of fervent religious energy.

During the pandemic we witnessed something like a COVID-19 Cult, with Dr. Anthony Fauci playing the role of a “scientific” Pontifex Maximus replete with Papal Infallibility. “I am science,” he proclaimed, suggesting that he is Science Incarnate.

The so called COVID-19 vaccines were conceived as our Salvation, and their purported safety and efficacy were adopted as Articles of Faith. Once people embraced these gene transfer products as safe and effective, no amount of empirical evidence to the contrary would dissuade them.

Even among some people who considered themselves Christian, the vaccines were conceived as more protective of life than Christ himself. Indeed, one Methodist church in Cape Town, South Africa, draped itself with a banner that explicitly announced this:

... I suppose that true believers consider the banner in Cape Town and the coin in Rome as artifacts of a religion corrupted by falsehood and false worship. I also suppose it’s no coincidence that many of the doctors who treated COVID-19 (instead of doing nothing and waiting for the heralded Vaccine Savior) were, to some degree, believers in the Jewish or Christian faith. Their faith in traditional, revealed religion made them disinclined to embrace the new religion of Scientism.

Global capitalism has no ideology … or, rather, its ideology is “reality.” When you have no ideological adversaries, you don’t need an ideology. You’re basically God. “Reality” is whatever you say it is, and whoever disagrees is a “science denier,” or a “conspiracy theorist,” or a “malinformationist,” or some other type of deluded “extremist.” You don’t need to argue ideology with anyone, because you have no ideological opponents. Society is divided into two fundamental groups, (a) “normal people,” who accept “reality,” and (b) the “deviants” and “extremists,” who do not. Your political and ideological opponents are pathologized, preemptively delegitimized. After all, who would argue against “reality” except liars and the clinically insane? ...

Anyway, the battlefield looks like this … you’ve got GloboCap conducting its Clear-and-Hold op, and you’ve got the reactionary (“populist”) backlash against it. And that’s it. Those are the only significant forces on the battlefield, currently. ...

The New Normal Left is obviously with GloboCap. New Normal Leftists will furiously deny this, as they shriek for more censorship of dissent and cheer for actual Sieg-heiling Nazis. Just as the “populist” Right cannot accept the fact that what it is opposing is a form of capitalism, the New Normal Left cannot accept the fact that it is aligned with a new form of totalitarianism. It is literally inconceivable to them. You can show them screenshots of their posts and Tweets in which they called for “the Unvaccinated” to be locked up in camps, and pictures of when they formed fanatical mobs and threatened people who wouldn’t chant their slogans, and they will look at you as if you are out of your mind.

@BlueSlots

The problem is, the vaccinated don't want to admit they made a poor decision out of fear, ignorance or pressure. They don't know what the future holds for them and they want to hope they made a good decision. I'm sorry to say but the decision was a bad one. We should have never taken something experimental with no extended human trials. We are the human trial, and it failed.

The modern Democratic Party is Matt Yglesias and Ezra Klein recording endless podcasts about overcoming NIMBYism to change zoning ordinances to increase housing density while simultaneously ignoring the iatrogenocide led by Democrats that is maiming and killing their own base.

iatrogenocide

What is that? I did a google search but it is not clear to me. Medical genocide?

@GNL Yes, iatrogenocide means death caused by doctors.

TRANSCRIPT

MICHELLE: I was asked to reply to a comment, what do I think of people who refused the vaccine, the covid vaccine?

I've been hurt by the Pfizer vaccine, I have CIDP, chronic inflammation demyelation polyneuropathy. It's changed my life completely. If I had to do it all over again I would have never got the vaccine. Um, I do work in health care, so I do work with patients. So, where I work we were told, you know, if you get the vaccine you'll save lives, you won't get sick, you won't die. The media was saying the same thing. So I believed it.

Um, my friends that didn't get the vaccine, I thought, how could you not get it? You're going to go home, what if you have it, you don't know it, you give it to your family members? The worse case scenarios were playing out in my head because of what I was seeing inside the facility.

We would have cookouts and things like that with my friends, that I had a lot of friends that were unvaccinated and they still aren't vaccinated. We'd have cookouts and at first I was scared to go there because I thought, oh my gosh, what if they're spreading covid? It was like the dumbest thing I've ever thought of, now that I think of it.

And once I started hanging out with them and things, they weren't getting sick. And the ones that did get sick, they got covid lightly, they were back on their way.

I had already gotten my vaccine, I had already started having issues and seeing a neurologist.

I totally have changed my mind. They were the smart ones. They were the ones that didn't wear the masks. They were the ones that hung around each other and never caught it, never spread it. Some of the ones did get vaccinated because of their jobs. But the ones that aren't, I totally commend you and I wish I was one of you. I think very highly of you.

And I'm upset with myself. No job is worth it. No job. So. There's my answer.

https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/how-teachers-union-broke-public-education

The union’s fixation on “safety” was a mania that amounted to the psychological abuse of children, and it has had lasting effects. This mania had little to do with actual safety, and more to do with signs of fealty to the Democratic Party. It is this fealty—not labor principles or educational concerns—that currently drives the union’s actions. ...

During her congressional testimony on April 26, 2023, Randi Weingarten reiterated her support for teacher vaccine mandates. “There’s someone in this audience here today who disagrees with me about it,” she said, gesturing to the seats behind her. The person she was referring to was Stephanie Edmonds, a New York City public school teacher who was attending the hearing. Edmonds’ religious exemption was denied, and she lost her job due to the city’s vaccine mandate for public employees.

“It seems like a little bit of a mistake to me to admit that she thought it was OK to fire her members,” Edmonds told me. If Weingarten claims to always fight for teachers, why did she find it acceptable for New York City to fire hundreds of union members and flag their fingerprints for the FBI?

“There’s a political power aspect to it,” Edmonds said. Vaccine mandates effectively weed out teachers who don’t share the Democratic Party’s ideology. Edmonds also pointed out that because it controls teachers’ benefits, the union manages billions of dollars of investments. “I think it’s probably connected to a lot of their financial ties,” she said. “Teachers union funds are invested within the pharmaceutical industry.”

But here's someone who did stand up for himself:

We shouldn't downplay the difficulty those who didn't have FU money faced to stand up for themselves. I do know of many people who didn't have FU money but they did have enough money to stand up and make the changes needed to avoid the jab. Those are the people who, imo, chose to keep whatever social status or financial status they had. I equate that choice with vanity.
