California Franchise Tax Board is aggressive also.
I filed California taxes for 2020.
Recall that the Federal deadline was extended because of Corona/Covid.
To fill out the California return you must first have done the federal return.
So, California sent me a bill for “late filing” after April, about 50 bucks.
California also sent me notices that I had to file California taxes for a year I lived in Florida, because I derived some income from California.
Evidently if you are a movie star living in Texas or Wyoming or Florida you will owe California tax on your movie salary.

He moved to South America after the house closed, so the letter reached me at a dead end. Out of curiosity I gave it a look to see how bad was it, or if they were trying to track him down to give him money. It was a tax bill from 2012 for $268.00, the letter said they will continue to send out the letter annually with updated interest until the statute of limitations runs out. I thought they only go back 3 years on Audits, and only 7 years on uncollected unreported taxes. This was from 9 years ago.

I don't believe the tax bill is legit. This guy was a by the book, old school guy. Kind of looked and sounded like Pauli from the Sopranos and had every Police charity sticker on the bumper of his Cadillac DeVille. Besides I don't think he came back, two years later, and if he did. I don't think he would have used my address, or tried to dodge paying taxes on the few thousand, this would be the tax for.
