It does make sense though of you have nothing in the car and can't watch over it in a bad area. Always had convertibles and leaving the door open always beats a slashed soft top. Don't know if and how many went in to check but never had a slashed top in many many years in SF. One got stolen once, taken on a joyride by some joggers but was found a few days later without any damage, had to clean the inside though and get rid of various other loot they left
