I had misfortune of having to spend some, not too long, time in Soviet Army at the end of 80's. Russian army traditions, including corruption and chaos, come from its Soviet past (all commanders were transferred from Soviet to Russian army). Also, knowing Russian helps a lot. Unfortunately, many Patnet Russia specialists have no working knowledge of Russian and still feel that they can lecture everyone about Ukraine/Russia.

I will listen to the link you provided above in evening. I can not wrap my head around this Wagner mutiny, especially the way how it ended. I have been reading Wagner telegram channels and they are full of cryptic messages that I can not decipher. For anyone curious, here are the links:

Imagery published on social media has confirmed that a Russian Air Force Ilyushin Il-22M airborne command post platform was among several military aircraft shot down inside Russia in an apparent attempted coup by the Wagner Private Military Co.

Only reason Pirgozhin got as close to Moscow as he did is he has the support of Russian troops. He wouldn't get that if he was attacking them indiscriminately.

Lost in all the fake news about the Wagner Civil War, the Evening Standard ran a story late last week headlined, “Ukraine May Be ‘Pausing Counteroffensive’, Says Institute for the Study of War.”

According to the article, on June 17th, the Wall Street Journal reported that Ukrainian forces “have mostly paused their advances in recent days” as command in Kiev “re-examines tactics.”

Re-examines. That’s a euphemism for “licks its wounds.”

In its latest update on the war, the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, said these news reports are consistent with their own recent observations of the “scale and approach” of local Ukrainian counterattacks in southern and eastern parts of the country. It added that it still does not look like Ukraine has launched its “main” effort yet.

The rationale for the “pause” was not clear, especially given that it provides the Russians even more time to shore up their defenses.

Now the $million dollar question is which Russian or international faction supported Prigozhin and what was the desired outcome of this exercise. I can’t answer this and I have not seen a good answer anywhere.

One rumor is he has the families of the Wagner leaders under soft arrest and anything untoward happens, they are toast down their generational gene pools. This was an ACTUAL attempt at an insurrection - and what happened? Are there 800 people in jail over one, supposed, insurrection rotting in jail, with no trial date? Did Moscow have agent provocateurs to entrap people? No - but the United States "government" does that today.

Prigorzhin was simply exiled, and Wagner, is gone, as any mercenary group should be. No mercenary group has any honor nor should they exist. They are paid murderers, nothing more, like Blackwater. By definition, they are just paid killers, nothing more.

I don't think Putin was that involved, although I'm betting he tightens Shoigu's leash quite a bit after this, and certainly could take action against Prigozhin. Shoigu didn't bother with the families, he tried to take out the men pretty directly.

What the fuck are you rambling about? Nothing that I said was secretive at all. The head of RT said she was "On a boat in the river", and that's why she didn't communicate during that period. You can look up yourself exactly how many powerful Russians made public statements denouncing Prigozhin, because they're fucking public.

June 6th is an interesting coincedence. To put things in perspective: the D-day was also on June 6th (1944) and Allied force only managed to break out of the beachhead at the end of July. For example it took till July 21st to capture Caen, which is located less than 10 miles from the shore. So what would we call Operation Overlord on June 29th, 1944 if we use the same criteria journos are using for this counter-offensive? "A disaster, an abject failure! Time to stop this sillines, accept the reality and negotiate peace with Hitler!"
