Who cares if they ultimately died or not? After Leonidas replied "molon labe" to Xerxes' offer to surrender - they didn't die to the last fighter either. It takes balls to do what Leonidas or these Border Guards did.

Sure, IF they did it.

It's a pretty simple rule - once a media outlet starts to lie to you, unless they apologize profusely, explain how they produced the "error", and loudly retract it - you're reading propaganda, and you should just completely ignore it.

But people don't. They keep going back to these liars and keep quoting them over and over again. A propagandist will ONLY be honest with you when it's convenient to be honest. They have ZERO credibility.

Now, 20 years ago, it was aggravating as hell to see people repeating propaganda from Fox news or the NY Times or CNN but in time, people realized these "information sources" were actively deceptive and dishonest and in the last 5 years this has been doubly underscored. 20 years ago, I could forgive people for being so innocent and naive. Not today. People who go to these sources aren't naive and gullible now, they are just outright stupid.

RWSGFY says
Americans used to understand these things. Sadly, it looks like they don't anymore. And judging by bizzare questions like "why would somebody fight for a country with such a low GDP per capita" on this board they don't understand other things they used to understand. Makes me really worried for my country.

You don't seem to be able to distinguish between country and government of a country.

In my country, the United States, we have a puppet regime installed by the CIA who has been trying to restart the Cold War and has kept this nation in war (to our great detriment) for 2 solid decades. If Russia came in to Washington DC and just said "we're here to kill every one of these fucking bastards) 1/2 the country would just celebrate at this point.

Why Ukrainians fight for their PUPPET regime, I have no idea. But it's their country. I think they are foolish to do it, but it's their lives and their deaths. Ultimately, I don't care what they do. I only care when my country is involved with it, and it is. The US overthrew Ukraine in 2014, and if that wasn't done, NONE of this bullshit would be happening.

They wanted to wait until after the Olympics were over due to optics. If they had invalided earlier the roads might have been frozen enough to not get bogged down in the mud. Clearly they learned nothing from WW2.

A low IQ country indeed.

The audio was recorded from the airwaves. Even fucking Russians don't deny the exchange has happened as reported and the only part of the story they contested was the "they all died" part. Which was fair assumption at the moment the whole story was reported. Are Russians in on the hoax too?

You can repeat this bullshit until you're blue in the face, but the facts on the ground do not support it. The only thing which happened in 2014 is some guy who was their President has left in a haste after overreacting to protests and fearing he'd be held responsible for the overly harsh attempts to put them dow, resulting in 100+ deaths. The Parliament remained. Which is, incidentally, the main source of the legitimacy in that country. (Just like in the US, btw). Then they held a presidential election. And then they held parliamental elections. And then they held another presidential election. And a parliamental election after that again. All of which were monitored by various international organizations and accepted as free and fair. Even fucking Russia accepted these elections and their results EVERY FUCKING TIME. And at every election the mix of political parties in power changed, so the guy who became the President after the first election is not the guy in power now and the party which held the power then is not the party in power now.

IF THE US HAS SUPPOSEDLY INSTALLED THEIR PUPPET IN 2014 WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT PUPPET NOW, IN 2022?

I wish they were restarting the Cold War.

Back then, we did NOTHING without carefully double and triple checking, lest we create a precedent for the Soviets to do the same to us somewhere else. And that it wouldn't be viewed as an existential threat by Russia, put the squeeze on them, but not back them into a corner.

Thanks to Kosovo, and now installing biolabs researching "pathogens" and funded by the DoD in Ukraine, we created some shit precedent, which the Russians are using. And our whole involvement in the Ukraine was to create Existential threats to Russia.

We have either MORONS or EVIL BASTARDS running things the past 20-25 years, including Republicans as well as Democrats. From Foreign Policy to Domestic Policy to Fiscal Policy. They have a great Marketing Department though.

Wait, so the whole war thing is not really about imminent danger of being attacked? It's a war of choice to put a thumb into the US's eye? Man, the narrative for supposed reasons for this war changes so fast, it's hard to follow.

First it was "NATO is about to attack Russia, so they had no choice and no time", then it was "But but, muh Nazis!", now it's "we do Kosovo to them, because they did Kosovo to Serbs"?
467   Eric Holder   2022 Mar 10, 3:59pm

Two weeks into the "operation" and after countless terabytes of fake CGI footage of burned tanks and downed aircraft, has a single real video of true events on the ground emerged? Like, say, liberators being greeted with flowers, bread-and-salt, you know, the thing.

How do you know?

Eric Holder says

Again, how do you know?

We live in a country where our news media is blatant propaganda, and lies to us constantly. They just lied about a fucking pandemic for 2 years. They lied about who was elected as president. There's no credibility left.

Here's the extent of what we know about Ukraine. We know Ukraine was overthrown in 2014 and that Putin CLAIMS he doesn't want to have NATO weaponry in Ukraine. That's it. The rest is speculation and propaganda.

Western authorities have ZERO credibility at this point. They will lie about anything. They lied about audio recordings on MH17 - remember that? And they're fucking BAD at it. That they will so blatantly, and OBVIOUSLY lie, it makes them entirely unbelievable at this point. Anything they say, and I mean anything they say at this point should be assumed to be a lie first, and only accepted as truth MUCH later on.

That's the quality of our leadership today. I accept it. You SHOULD accept it, but you don't for some bizarre reason. I mean, how much more obvious does it have to get? Can it even be more obvious? We have a president that was installed that is completely senile who was accepting bribes through his crack head son in Ukraine, and you think that THOSE people are the good guys? How naive are you? They are no good guys really, but the piece of shits running THE US? They clearly aren't. You're rooting for a fuck that wasn't elected, is a puppet in the executive office, who OPENLY sells access to the office by having his crack head son, make "art" now.

Just own up to it.

I added that a minute or two after the original post, before you replied, so perhaps you answered by original post.

Ukraine IS an existential threat just like Russia or China in Mexico is an Existential Threat to us. Period, end of story, no Georgetown IR Bullshit, real Politik.

Would you tolerate People's Liberation Army funded "Biolabs" in Mexico?

I can do better than that. I can prove it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5n8UbJ8jsk&source=patrick.net

This recording was made a month before the Maidan revolution. This isn't up for discussion, there's no possibility for error or mistake or misunderstanding here. There is NO QUESTION the US installed a puppet, NONE.

The US overthrew Ukraine in a coup. Nuland is indicating who the next leader of Ukraine will be, a month before the "revolution". There's no way she could have done this if the revolution was a revolution - it was a coup. The United States picked the next leader, and you're being intentionally naive and ignorant if you believe they had no sway in who the next leaders would be.

Look, if you actually think it was a revolution that's fine, but you're incorrect. We're all fooled by propaganda from time to time.

You don't seem to accept primary sources as information. I have to wonder about this. I don't make the error of thinking people are stupid, people are rarely stupid - but they are frequently dishonest. I think you are dishonest.
471   AmericanKulak   2022 Mar 10, 6:42pm

Two telling things after the Coup:

The new Government leapt to remove the Neutrality Clause from their Constitution that was in place since the Independence of the Ukraine in the early 90s.

Donetsk and Luhansk left Ukraine because of the "Steal".

What did the President do to deserve a Coup?

70%+ of Ukrainian trade was with Russia alone. They were reminded if they applied to the EU, the Free Trade agreement with Russia would have to be modified. Yanukovych, duly and legally elected, explained the situation and used his perfectly legal veto powers against the Parliaments vote to join the EU. This was after HE HIMSELF had worked to negotiate EU Association membership. Under the Constitution, the Parliament did not have the ability or overwhelming majority to override his veto.

Then all hell broke lose, very strange things like unknown snipers and protesters FOR Yanukovych being burned alive in Odessa.

They are evil bastards.

Our government murdered between 100,000 and 1,000,000 Iraqis over a lie they knew was a lie. They aren't stupid, they are sociopaths.

Our enemies are domestic, not international. Do they respect the constitution? They hate us. It's obvious they do. You think $7 a gallon gas is a mistake? They are purposely trying to cripple the middle class, and they despise the poor.

They just overthrew our nation. Do you really think Biden won? I don't. It would mean he's the most popular presidential candidate in history - this asshole that couldn't get 50 people to show up to a campaign event. A mafia runs our nation.

Russia: "How dare my former Eastern European Slave Colonies want to be part of NATO after the fall of the Berlin Wall! I will bomb the shit out of them and invade their land to show that they were wrong to worry about us!"

Face it, the USSR and Russia never had a reckoning for all the evil shit and the damage they did to Eastern Europe post WWII. The USSR was just as evil if not more so than Nazi Germany in terms of destruction of human life. The USSR and Russia stunted generations throughout the world with their aggressive push of Marxism and Totalitarianism around the globe from Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and South/Central America.

Putin and Russia are victims of jack shit and have no moral or legal justification for what they are doing.

It was bad enough we had American and European Leftists in academia, government and our Media helping rehabilitate and paper over the USSR's (and Russia's) terrible actions. Now we have alot of normally sensible people on the political right inexplicably doing the same today.

I don't want WWIII over Ukraine, but let's stop pretending that Putin is somehow justified in killing thousands of civilians over the last few weeks invading Ukraine.
482   Patrick   2022 Mar 11, 12:22pm

I saw an article today in the local paper about a Ukrainian woman who worked as an an accountant for a local tech company from over there. She was killed in shelling, along with her two kids. I feel very bad for her and the kids. This is one of the few stories about such things that I am pretty confident is true.

On the other hand, there are reports and videos of the Ukrainian army deliberately using civilians as shields exactly in order to create cases like this.

War is hell, which is why it should be avoided. I do not think the Russians (or any other soldiers) would waste ammo picking off innocent cars. That car drove right up to and stopped 100 yards or so from a road where a convoy was driving by - perfect spot to set up and fire Javelin type missiles. The APC saw the car as it was approaching that intersection, so the APC quickly maneuvered and fired. Notice it fired twice, to be sure to eliminate the perceived threat. If I was in a convoy driving through where the enemy have been saturated with portable anti-tank weapons, and my side had mass casualties from these weapons, I would pick off any vehicle that was heading toward me or was in a position to fire.

Politicians are the cause for all wars, the soldier is just fighting for his life.

Oddly enough, in parts of the US where handguns are tightly controlled, one is allowed to own weapons like a Javelin and a cannon. Obviously not practical.

A Javelin would be an excellent DEFENSIVE weapon against a drive by in the hood. If the price point were lower they would sell like hotcakes!

Why is war and ammo so expensive?

Where do I buy one?
