Pay $1.81/gallon for gas
https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Russia/gasoline_prices/?source=patrick.net

Gas in Russia is cheaper than Gas in Qatar or Bahrain or Saudi Arabia.

Unable to buy $30/lb luxury Italian Cheese, $30/bottle midrange French Wines, expensive German Audio Equipment... what will the Russians do with themselves?

Eat local cheese, drink local beer, and buy the same audio equipment from China that's on Amazon USA

Sanctions will never be dropped.

This is stupid.

Sanctions will only be dropped provided Russia allows the ECB and Federal Reserve to take them over.

I'm so tired of people pretending that sanctions have anything to do with "human rights". That's complete bullshit, and you know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

Another thing, Russia's energy sector is NOT collapsing. They just halved their production and doubled their profits. Oil is a fungible commodity. They'll just sell it to China and China will export it to Europe - with a profit. All this is doing is hurting Europeans and Americans. It's entirely stupid. There's no real war in Ukraine, but there's a real war of governments against their own people.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/energy-environment/russian-budget-surplus-nearly-evaporated-in-august-amid-energy-war-with-europe

Quote:
According to preliminary figures released by Russia’s finance ministry on Monday, the country’s budget surplus narrowed to around $2.3 billion in August, less than half of the roughly $8 billion reported from January to July.

Oil and gas revenues, which made up roughly half of Moscow’s total budget revenues so far in 2022, were also down 18% compared to the same period last year, according to the data.
252   RWSGFY   2022 Sep 13, 9:06am

Bloomberg News
September 13, 2022, 6:16 AM PDT
Russia’s energy revenues shrank in August to the lowest in more than a year as Western sanctions over Ukraine prompted the Kremlin to sell discounted oil and squeeze gas flows to Europe.

The refusal to buy Russian oil by some traditional customers in Europe means Moscow has been forced to sell oil at a steep discount in Asian markets, depriving it of the full benefit of higher prices. While August saw record-high spot gas prices in Europe, gas levies, which take up a smaller share in the budget, couldn’t fully offset lower oil revenues. State-run Gazprom PJSC has significantly cut gas exports to Europe this summer, blaming sanctions for capped flows.

Russia’s oil and gas revenues, which account for more than a third of nation’s budget, fell to 671.9 billion rubles ($11.1 billion) last month, the lowest since June 2021, according to Finance Ministry’s data published Monday. That’s a drop of almost 13% from July. It’s also a 3.4% decline from a year ago, even though Urals crude prices rose almost 10%.

The Russian stock market plummeted by nearly 9% today.

Something is brewing in Moscow and the oligarchs are aware of it.

258   Eric Holder   2022 Sep 20, 7:05pm

The Russian rail system is being starved of rolling stock because of a shortage of roller bearings for their axles. Some 10,000 railway cars were pulled offline because of a bearing shortage in August with another 20,000 expected to be sidelined in the next two months. Repair facilities are unable to repair them because of the shortage. This represents about 20-30% of Russian rail cars of all types

Russian imports about half of the bearings it uses in heavy industry. In May, Russian truck manufacturers like the GAZ group, KAMAZ and UAZ had to stop their production because of these shortages. Premium bearing makers like SKF(Sweden), Schaeffler(Germany), NSK(US) and Timken(US) have either closed facilities in Russia and moved them elsewhere to countries like Poland or sold off their assets to private individuals inside Russia.

Russia moves much of its freight by rail, especially heavy equipment like tanks, APCs, and artillery. It also moves coal by rail and this shortage will affect the ability of Russia to make promised deliveries of coal to China. One of the bearing types in short supply is Cassette-type bearings fitted to rail cars with large axial loads. These are mostly used for coal transportation in Russia.

This problem with rolling stock being out of service for a lack of roller bearings will have a ripple effect on Russian industries like transportation, military hardware, trucks and cars, communications, and the production of consumer goods. Almost all heavy machinery used in manufacturing uses bearings of some kind.

Russia is looking to resource these bearings from Asian countries but will face significant quality problems in doing so. The manufacture of roller bearings requires specially treated steel and a very precise process of milling and finishing. It is doubtful China or India would be able to make roller bearings to these specifications or the Russians would already be buying them.

The Russian railway system is 98% state-owned and employs some 750,000 people.

See, what sanctions are, is when the US deprives a country of medicine, food, etc, and kills a couple hundred 1000 people in the hopes they'll overturn their government. What it instead does is create solidarity and make people justifiable hate my stupid fucking government. That's all it does.

That's why you have the old fucking cunt Madeline Albright saying having 1/2 million children DIE in Iraq was worth it for sanctions.

Don't tell me fucking with 11 people is "sanctions".

You want to believe that horse-shit - go ahead, but don't expect me to.

I'm pointing out that NOTHING Russia will do short of collapsing will end US sanctions against Russia. Russia would be stupid to even care. Russia should just end all their cooperation with Europe and the United States. They don't need anything from either economies, fuck it.

They've tried to work with these assholes quite diligently for 20 fucking years, it's a waste of time. You just have a bunch of madman assholes like Victoria Nuland to deal with. Negotiation is pointless. We're not the America of the 1980's, there's NOTHING the US produces that Russia needs at this point, same with Europe. Nothing at all.

Who claimed this?

Look, without a link at this point, it should be discarded. This is probably bullshit regardless. Why would Russia sell a commodity at a loss? They can just stockpile it. It's silly. This is conceivable if Russia is getting payback in someway, say, China is paying for the construction of a pipeline or has agreed to an economic partnership of some sort.
269   AmericanKulak   2022 Oct 5, 10:36pm

Several things are clear:

1. The Fourth Reich f**ked Europe with Energy Policy, they will learn nothing of course.
2. The Russian Army has a long way to go and something - or multiple things - are very wrong with it.
3. NATO means North American Taxes Only, since the US is giving 6-7X the aid to Ukraine that European Members (Most also members of the G-7) combined are giving, in Europe.
4. We don't have a Pro-American Geopolitical Strategy. We should be insisting Europe build LNG ports for US gas right now or be talking about tariffs/reducing NATO commitments.

No. NATO should be in negotiations to end this war, and at the same time building alternative energy sources.

They shouldn't be dependent on a single source, but at the same time, they should be trying to end this stupid war.

The problem is Europe is run by traitors, traitors controlled by the US intelligence agencies. They don't care about their population.
271   Misc   2022 Oct 6, 1:13am

European countries simply don't have the funds to do anything extra. Sure, it would be nice if they could increase their defense spending, throw away some more money to the Ukies and suddenly increase the amount of oil/gas they get from other sources. Nope, they are going to have to nationalize most everything.

They are looking at spending an extra $2 trillion dollars next year for energy. The US spends about $800 billion for our entire defense budget. European prosperity is going under the bus. Some people/industries are simply going to have to do without power coming up fairly soon. (The German elites managed to offload Porshe to gullible people) but for the most part heavy industry is gonna simply shut down in Europe. Bills, lots of bills are simply not going to be paid. Right now, the Europeans have a 10% inflation rate and the ECB discount rate is .75%. Many European countries simply rely on money printing to pay their current bills (Italy I'm looking at you). There is going to be massive amounts of defaults which will destroy their financial system or massive amounts of money printing, which will destroy their financial system.

It will be interesting to see how they determine who gets what and why.

Twitter is a controlled propaganda site. I don't know why you pay attention to it. CNN may as well have said this.

Also, don't know much about trains, but I am competent on bikes - cassette bearings on what you have on your wheels. I've packed bearings before and I'm pretty certain China makes this sort of stuff. It's not hard to make a metal ball. It does have to be very close to being round.

What I mean is that a ball bearing that isn't very close to being a sphere will quickly wear down to one that is, and leave a bunch of particles of metal that will grind down the rest of the ball bearings.
278   rocketjoe79   2022 Oct 19, 11:36pm

No ball bearing makers (SKF, FAG, Timken, Nachi, etc.) produce their own balls. They buy from other mass producers like NN and Hoover.
Roller bearings are made with various roller shapes. Cylindrical, Spherical or Tapered Roller Bearings for have all been successful for railway.
