#strandedrussiantourists Please imagine your worst travel nightmare for the moment. You and your family are at a luxury resort in Thailand. You have been there a couple of weeks. You have run up a bill of thousands of dollars including room charges, meals, gift shop purchases, and services like haircuts. Your bill is guaranteed by your Platinum American Express card. You have had this card for several years. You have a high credit limit. You always pay your bills on time. Nothing can go wrong; right?
You are called to the front desk. The assistant manager informs you that your credit card has been declined after several attempts. You pull out your wallet for an alternate card. Your black Visa card with a high limit is declined. Your high-limit Master Card is declined.
You get on the computer and look up all these credit cards. You find that they have been canceled due to US sanctions over the Russian invasion. You still have some hope. You have a Union Bank card from China. You attempt to use that card and it is declined. You check that website. The Russian Ruble has crashed to less than 1 cent to the US dollar. Your credit limit has taken a huge and unexpected drop. You have no other way to pay the bill. Hotel management is understanding. Your bill is cut. You are allowed a few more days to get money to settle your account and book your return flight to Russia. You find out that no Russian planes are flying. Hotel management tells you that they will have to retain your passports until the account is settled. You are facing the prospect of living on the streets with no money to even buy food.
Some 6,500 Russian tourists and 1,000 Ukrainian tourists find themselves in this position right now. Here is the story from ABC News as follows:

Rest assured that this same story is playing out all over the world with stranded Russian and Ukrainian tourists. We can only take wild guests at the total number. It is another aspect of the human suffering caused by this invasion.
I went to a law school in West Australia from 1984-to 1985. I did not graduate, I learned a lot about the law. If you fail to pay the rent on your apartment or the mortgage (bond) payment on your house, this is a civil matter. Eventually, you will be evicted.
If you fail to pay a hotel bill anywhere in the world, it is a criminal offense. Centuries ago, Britain came up with a criminal law called "Defrauding an Inn Keeper." It has spread all over the world. In countries with a British Common Law heritage, this criminal offense is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 90 days in jail. Things get uglier when you come to the United States. Some years ago in Los Angeles, a man was sentenced to five years in prison for failure to pay a $65,000 hotel bill owed to a Beverly Hills hotel. I once was in a hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas. Posted on the door were evacuation instructions in case of a fire and a copy of the Arkansas Defrauding an Inn Keeper statue. The maximum penalty under this law was 20 years in the Arkansas state prison.
Things get really ugly when one goes to a Muslim country that uses Sharia law. The maximum penalty for not paying a lawful debt is death by hanging or beheading. (Over the last 24 hours Saudi Arabia carried out 81 executions.)
These poor stranded tourists could also face criminal prosecution for Defrauding an Inn Keeper.

Eurotrash Commies, and the Fag Brigade American Commies, canceled a whole Country. Why anyone from Russia would side with these Bastards is pure fantasy and bullshit.
I keep hearing reports of Russian citizens denouncing Putin's rebuke of the Ukraine Nazi regime, and the Obama war criminal operation, that persists to this day in our State Department and Deep state. But any sane person knows it's all pure Propaganda and as phony as rusty burned out Tank carcass from 1970, that was destroyed in Military exercises over a decade ago, and was placed on the side of the road for Optics.

Tell them they can have American citizenship if they go to defend our southern border against the Biden criminal hordes.

Fuck them - they should have move/hired a coyote to transport them to CA in 2020 to get ongoing rent moratoriums

Keep in mind that if the crimes of the USA with regard to the Plandemic come to light (and they will), the international community could cancel our country in retaliation for starting the worst pandemic in modern history and following it up with genocidal “vaccines” that took out hundreds of millions or even over a billion people more.

That would be what we deserve.

I don't know, if nukes aren't being lobbed, who the fuck cares? I'm game for taking over Mexico or Canada in all honesty. It makes sense for North and Central America to be one country. Russia would give zero shits if we did. Why do we even care about Ukraine? There are more resources sitting North and South of us. Let Europe deal with its own shit as long as we're not attacked. Sell them weapons and let them fight it out.

Central America and the US are de facto virtually one nation - open borders (unlimited people and drugs/guns), full benefits (including voting in US elections). Why not formalize the arrangement?

Fuck no to Castro's bastard. Take every province except Ontario, or the whole thing with the proviso that he be exiled to his father's land.

A smart person always notifies their credit card company of their overseas travel plans - always. Saves you from the bullshit described in the post.

This is a travel tip most miss. Even within the states. Most major companies/banks have a place when you login to inform them of travels. States or countries. A decade ago I think we did a cruise and had our card locked because we went to a bar in Aruba. Never again. Just notify them.

Also, I know I'll get shit on by debt haters, but have 20-30 credit cards. No joke. Get points. I can open a card and get 2 nights free in a hotel from buying my normal groceries over 2 months. Then pay it off. Grab a few cards that will offer interest fee balance transfers. We've had upwards of $60k in credit card debt and maybe paid $300 for a balance transfer and got $8k worth of hotels, flights, lounges, etc. Never paid interest on the balance besides the minor transfer fee.

I'm already teaching my kids the game. For 3-4 hours a year I can get $8k worth of travel free. I'm on the extreme end because my wife expenses personally about $100k/yr. But you could still book a decent trip using cards with $80k income and just using the card for expenses you'd have to pay anyway.

“I can pay! I can pay!”
“Run it again!”

Above quote is for anyone who watched “Inventing Ana.”

Anecdote… my wife’s friend went to Puerto Rico with her family for vacation, and on the return trip they overlaid in Orlando for a few hours. While catching some lunch they discovered that their flight had unexpectedly been cancelled as well as many other flights. After standing in rebooking lines for hours behind thousands of other people in an airport zoo, they discovered that they could be rebooked as early as four days from then. Then they discovered that no hotels, motels, bed and breakfast places, Airbnb, or flop houses had any vacancies in the general area. Faced with no flight and homelessness, they rented the last beater at the airport and drove home to Chicago. Air travel is super great right now! And you’ll pay a premium for the privilege.
