Down here in Florida the tankless water heaters are a flat tank mounted to the wall, about 24 inches by 14 inches, and about 1 or 2 inches thick. It's the same concept but the water goes through heated coils. The water heater is mounted on the wall somewhere near the shower or kitchen sink.

Yep, in Colombia same thing with the scary electric shower head. Bucaramanga, San Gil, Curiti, all the small towns and little hotels. Not so much in Bogota.

Tampermonkey. Basically a modern greasemonkey extension.

Greasemonkey scripts are the ultimate low budget way to customize websites. Its much easier than writing a browser extension.

I'm not sure offhand how to use it to disable js though. A browser extension like noscript might be needed. I often have 1 tab where I disable js, and then whenever I encounter a url where I want to disable js, I just paste the url into that tab. Basically 2.5 hotkeys to do it, but it requires you leave devtools open or js will reenable.

I wonder if I could do almost everything I want with bookmarklets.

A simple fix, which I sometimes use, is just holding the escape key down right after the page loads.

Usually I find anything behind a paywall isn't worth consuming though anyhow.

wget and curl can grab a webpage for offline viewing as well.

It sometimes does under Linux.

It just interrupts the process of whatever is running, sometimes. It doesn't always work, but it used to work for a few sites. Not certain it will work with APPLE.

Again, when I hit a paywall, I generally skip it, if I really want to see it I check archive.org. If that doesn't work, I try escape, if that doesn't work wget and curl. If that doesn't work, I will copy the first 10 words of the article (often visible) and enter that in a search engine in quotes. If THAT doesn't work, it's not worth reading.

Not always in that order. 99% of stuff behind a firewall isn't worth consuming. It's almost always a vacant opinion piece anyhow. It's no common I can learn anything from mainstream "news", I just get the propaganda push.

@Kepi - it might cause you a heart attack, but try an ice cold shower. They actually are invigorating. I take them all the time in summer, in winter, I want to experience warmth in winter, in summer, I don't need it.

When I say "invigorating" what I mean is you are using your mind to forcibly control your body. There's no pain, it's discomfort, but it doesn't harm you. Heart rate might go up, and perhaps it's SLIGHTLY dangerous? It's just exercising control over your primal instincts.

When I do this, I walk out of the shower, cold, and very very aware.

He says he's noticing a difference after about a year overall. I think it's a placebo effect, but I do know it will wake your ass up if you do it early.

I've taken ice baths before bed in hot summers. I went to bed quivering and shaking, but I slept very well.

There's something unnatural about taking a warm shower or bath I think however it's exhausting to drain all that heat out of your body. It's not a placebo effect, it stresses your body. How long have we even had access to warm bathing and showers? 200 years at most? Even daily bathing is a new concept.

In any case, it makes balancing the heat from the shower head simple and quick.
