So when Elon hires for his companies he just sees 8 billion completely interchangeable humans to choose from, nothing separates them except for their performance merit

Except the world doesn't work that way. Chinese people are loyal to China. Indians are loyal to India. Mexicans are loyal to Mexico, etc.
