Has anybody purchased I bonds? What are the pros and cons of this? Thank you.

I used to buy I series savings bonds online using my Discover Card. I would get 1% back for the purchase.
The government stopped allowing the purchase of bonds using credit cards.
I series savings bonds are a decent investment.

We are in the process of purchasing for the whole family. My only regret is that we did not do last year as well as it seems a good place to park an emergency fund.
